Went for a ride this past week and encountered a little mud!
Here are some close ups of the drive train after words:
The ride back home in the back of my truck kinda dried the mud out, which made cleaning a little easier.

Thats some mucky looking stuff there JDH. Probably a little rough on the components. Good thing mountain bikes (and mountain bikers) are tough.
We still have good weather here, but leaves are every where and getting deeper by the hour. Makes for some treacherous riding conditions since you can't see what you are riding over.
I think our Florida friends have the ticket this time of year. If I could snowbird, I would. _________________ CraigCreekRider

Yeah CCR, between the mud and freezing temperatures I couldn't shift gears for the last few miles of that ride. But it was a fun ride and fun seeing the look of disbelieve on a few roadies faces when they saw my bike in the back of my truck as I was sitting at a stop light. _________________ Falling is fun, the sudden stop at the end of the fall is what sucks! |

Funny JDH, freaking out the roadies.
How late in the year do you ride? I try to ride year round, but even here in VA the misery factor gets pretty high in Jan. and Feb., especially since it usually involves riding at night too. Its already almost dark when I get off of work (yuck). _________________ CraigCreekRider

CCR, I try to ride year round, but I ride a lot less in the winter then I ride in the summer. Night riding is just par for the course up here, we only get 8 hours of sun this time of year and by 20 Dec we'll only get 5 and a half hours, so a good head light is a must. Went for my first "cold weather" ride of the year last night on the STA trail up here in Anchorage AK (http://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/sta-trails.html). The temp was 31 when I started at 4:30 and got down to 14 by 6:30. The trail is frozen with a little snow at the higher elevations, but it is great riding without mud, though at 14 degrees it was a little cold coming down the trail at 20mph LOL. _________________ Falling is fun, the sudden stop at the end of the fall is what sucks! |

And "Go Goo" has a nice ring to it. You should get t-shirts made. |
