Singletracks news and updates

There’s still a lot happening here at singletracks despite the cold winter temps – here’s an update:

New Technical Editor: Greg (2leftfeet)

In case you haven’t noticed, we have a sassy new writer and mountain bike gear reviewer here at singletracks, 2leftfeet (see his excellent posts about the Blackburn Flea and Dakine Drafter). Greg has encyclopedic knowledge about mountain bikes and components gained through years of industry experience: 5 years in various bikes shops plus 5 years at a major cycling retailer (including 18 months as a technical writer). Greg even designed several mountain bike framesets for Nashbar – pretty sweet. Look for a photo and more detailed info about Greg on our about us page in the new year…

MTB gear category page redesign

We’ve updated our mountain bike gear review pages with a fresh and clean design that makes it even easier to find and review your junk. The new page allows you to filter by brand or subcategory plus shows you the latest gear and reviews at a glance.

Gift subscriptions

Time is pretty much out for ordering mountain bike gifts online – unless you’re giving the gift that gives all year long – the singletracks gift subscription! Choose a trail subscription with access to nearly 600 mountain bike trail maps or our PRO account that adds GPS tools and an online training application. Just buy and print or email your swanky gift certificate within minutes!

Email alerts for MTB trail and gear reviews

This feature has been operating in stealth mode for the past week or so but we’re ready to fill you, our loyal blog readers, in on the secret: Now you can sign up for email alerts about your favorite mountain bike trails and gear with your singletracks account! Just click the ‘watch this item’ link on any trail or gear page and we’ll send you a short email whenever a new review is added. It’s simple to remove items from you watch list and we’ll never bombard you with multiple emails about the same item. Give it a try and stay up to date on the latest reviews of the gear you want and the trails you ride!

  1. Congratulations Greg (2leftfeet) & good too have you aboard Singletracks team. The Singletracks team works real hard to keep up and maintain this great site along with offering many amenities (special features) for fellow MTBR’s, USA or abroad. Thanks for all the hard and dedicated work to make this a really great site.

  2. Hey Happy Holidays to all-
Ive been noticing several of the changes & improvements here on Singletracks and am pretty impressed with most of them, this site has sure come a long way in the last couple years and Im very happy to be a member here. Although I don’t rely on the gear reviews near as much as I should the new format is very cool, especially the tab link to the manufactures reviews. The new email alert system if used correctly will sure help direct us to the info we are looking for. With technology today there is no shortage of information and opinions available to us, trouble is most of it is hard to navigate or isn’t worth paying attention to, this site seems to cut through a lot of that BS for us.
I still rely heavily on the basic trail reports as I always find myself traveling to areas Ive never been before these reports have guided me to some of the most amazing country Ive ever seen. Its my hope that this year we can get more participating members in the western half of the country.
Thanks to all the folks who ‘work’ on this site, fantastic job gang!

  3. Thanks for the kind words Dan. We’ve been kinda focusing on gear reviews since Interbike in September but as the weather starts to warm up we’re planning to shift our focus back to improving the trail info. Also, starting in January we’ll be amping up race and training coverage to help with those New Years resolutions – 2009 is gonna be rad!
