New way to rate mountain bike trails

posted November 30, 2007 by trek7k

I wrote about the IMBA Trail Difficulty Rating System a couple months ago and how it’s a great way to give objective ratings to mountain bike trails much like the ratings used at ski resorts. Well we’ve added these rankings to our mountain bike trail reviews here on singletracks and we’re stoked to see how your local trails rate.

Just click the “Review this trail” link on any trail page and you’ll see a chart (like the one above) with the ratings. Choose the best one for the entire trail system, click the “Next step” button and review the trail as you normally would.

If it’s been a while since you reviewed your local trail take a few minutes today to add a new review and tell us how it rates. Once we’ve collected a good amount of data we’ll start to publish the ratings on state pages and the trail descriptions themselves. Sweet!
