Do NOT miss out Porc Rim! You can take it easy and there is always the option to walk the most technical sections. Porc Rim is one of my all time favorite trails. definitely worth a go, just ride within your ability.

I enjoyed Porcupine Rim, but it definitely wasn’t like riding singletrack… it was a pretty unique experience (I’ll say that much), and one I think you should definitely have!

grandlakejames, you can’t skip Porcupine, it’s my and many peoples favorite Moab trail. The thing about Porc is the many drops, up to about 3′. Practise them and you’ll be ready for this great trail.

Wow that looks like a great trail ride. I will have to make sure and add that one to the list although I may have to skip out on Porcupine Rim, that may be above my skill level.

Jamis is treating you right, that is awesome how quickly they sent you a new frame. I am looking forward to hearing about some of the San Francisco rides!

I did a similar route two years ago and loved it! Instead of climbing to Burro Pass we took Moonlight Meadows which was a fun trail. Unfortunately we ended up climbing just as much (if not more) to get to the start of Hazard County from the bottom of Moonlight/Clark. At the bottom I skipped out on Porcupine Rim which was probably a good call at the time–but I’ll eventually ride it!

Actually dgaddis, the shim goes significantly below the crack, at least another inch and a half to two inches. Still, it could have contributed to the break As for how they’ve been treating me, jamis has been amazing and sent me a new frame in San Francisco that I’m already riding! They did include a post with it too that fits the frame perfectly, so its back to the beginning!

I’ll bet the shim stops right above the weld, right where the crack is.

At least you were able to finish the ride!

That trail looks amazing. Definite bucket list. Sucks about the bike though. Good thing you have others. I guess that now the question is… did you just effectively buy a new bike with a broken frame? Since its a demo, how do they treat you when things get damaged?
