Every time I am up around Helen I always ride all or as much of the MTB trails as possible. Very majestic country up in that area & well worth the trip to ride. I like to camp at Unicoi State Park when I ride up that way or camp at Amicalola Falls further SW. Too bad the MTB trails are closed at Amicalola Falls, I used to love riding there when the trails were open. All in all, my favorite place to camp when I am riding up in north GA is at Fort Mountain State Park. They have miles of MTB trails at Ft. Mountain, but they are not maintained as they should be, making them a little more technical & rough. Well, at least when I was up their earlier this year. Another destination to travel to in north GA for riding MTB's and just plain awesome scenery is around the Blue Ridge & McCaysville area. They have a train that runs from Blue Ridge to McCaysville that is absolutely an awesome trip. Great area for road biking as well!
