The Anti-Freeze line from Halo consists of a headband and a skull cap, both insulated, and both featuring the patented SweatBlock seal. I am aware that 1) winter is over and 2) headbands and such aren’t the most exciting piece of gear, but hang with me here.

For me, fall/early winter and late winter/spring are those awkward times of the year when I alternate between being cold and yet still sweating the amount of 2-3 normal people when riding. The Halo nails both of these issues with a soft, warm fabric with good coverage for the ears and wicking material that pulls the sweat away from the skin. This helps prevent wet, clammy spots when the exertion level drops, while keeping the cold air away at all times.

In addition to the technical aspects of the fabric itself, Halo also throws in the same SweatBlock channel that is used on their summer line of products. Picture a soft, rubber seal similar to one half of a Ziplock bag’s seal. It runs horizontally across the front, effectively blocking any sweat from making the trip to your eyes. I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical at first, but it just plain works, even against my enhanced sweating capabilities.

As for which model works best, I shave my head bald, so I went for the cap. Those with a full head of hair will likely prefer the band. Both models fit comfortably under a helmet, and there is no interference with the adjustment mechanism.

Bottom Line

I am thoroughly impressed with the design, fabric, and fit of both the headband and skull cap, and the patented SweatBlock technology is brilliant. Now that warm weather is here, I am ordering a couple of the lightweight summer models so that I can enjoy them year-round!

Headband MSRP: $16.95

Skull Cap MSRP: $24.95

Thanks to the folks at Halo for sending over the Anti-Freeze models for review!
