Syncros FL Carbon Mountain Bike Fork Preview

We don’t post a lot of product review teasers here on singletracks but the Syncros FL Carbon Fork is particularly drool-worthy and we just couldn’t resist. The FL Carbon is an all-carbon 29er mountain bike fork that weighs 1 lb, 5 oz. according to our postage scale. And that’s before cutting the steerer to size!

I had the fork mounted on my Redline d660 just a few days ago and haven’t had a chance to ride it yet but I can tell you this: my 29er mountain bike now weighs just 2 lbs. more than my carbon fiber road bike. Ridic.

This is one of those forks you take into the bike shop and a crowd of customers and employees starts to gather around to gawk. The FL Carbon is a fork that looks like it belongs on a mountain bike unlike some of the other rigid carbon forks out there. Let’s just hope it doesn’t completely harsh the ride on the trail.

Stay tuned for the full review within a few weeks!

  1. VERY nice! That thing is crazy light. I’ve got a White Brothers Rock Solid 29er rigid fork, it has an aluminum steerer tube, crown, and drop outs with carbon tubes for legs it weighs 1lbs 12oz – with a cut steerer.

Rigid takes a little getting used to, but can be a lot of fun, and nothing climbs like a rigid! Use a big tire with low pressure, makes all the difference in the world.

  2. Come on man, you’re not pushing a rigid fork until you take it down a series of 3 foot drops with a rock garden to end it all. You can always grow back bones to replace the ones you’ll break. We want a REAL test!!!!!

  3. Looking forward to the review… like you said, that fork is seriously drool-worthy! I know a couple guys up here that ride rigid carbon forks and love them.

So what does your complete bike weigh in at now?

  4. I’m at about 21.5 lbs. but there’s still room to cut: water bottle holders, rear wheel swap, front derailleur (if I go back to 1×9). I’m also running the front wheel tubed so there’s another place to shave some lbs.
