A few mountain bike gadgets and tech you may have missed this year:
- The RAM Mount: Want to take your GPS, cell phone, and PDA out on the trail but don’t have a good place to stash them? How about on your handlebars. If I had one of these babies I’d probably end up using all 3 mounts for my different GPS units.
- The Ride by Ellsworth: The Ride is a bike that makes use of the NuVinci drive system inspired by Leonardo da Vinci himself. NuVinci gives you an infinite number of gears which means you can find the perfect ratio to climb that hill. The bike actually looks like a cruiser but it has some typical mountain components (disc brakes, front suspension). I guess on this bike you’re never *really* in your granny gear 😉
- Topeak Bikamper: Using your bike to hold up your tent is a good idea? I don’t know about you but I’d be worried one of my drunk buddies would trip over the back tire jutting out of the front of my tent to bring the whole thing crashing down on my head. The Bikamper retails for around $300 which seems a bit much, especially since you have to provide the main tent pole yourself.
