Today is the first snow of the year – along with some rain. I think the saying is that Idleness is the Devils playground. So, it looks like you are stuck with some point and clicks from my more memorable 2012 rides. ?
Just remembered how little winter we had last year so we were able to ride all year.
This was from a January ride in the Blue Ridge of Virginia, one of my favorite riding areas.
One of the best thing about riding this area is the Blue Ridge Parkway dissects the area giving us many loop options and good views, which are not really common in this part of the country – you can’t see the forest for the trees.
From a February ride.
Our biggest group ride of the year, a fund raiser for one of our own who is currently going through a bone marrow transplant.
A little further west than the Blue Ridge, a June ride on Price Mountain
Mid-June brought a trip to Davis WV and the Canaan Valley area. This is from Son of Plantation trail I think
Regrouping
Riding Moon Rocks
The end of June brought Derecho

It was the most devastating non-hurricane storm I can remember. Tough on homes, yards, trails, bridges – and me. After a few days of chainsawing, we did a July 4 Blue Ridge ride in weather that approached 100F.
Many hours of saw work have been put in this year trying to clear out trails, some of the lesser used are still covered.
September Ride at Virginia Beach
VA Beach is one of the most bike friendly places I have ever been.
A Singletracker on a recent ride on Dragons Back
It was a pretty good year of riding, may 2013 be even better.
Feel free to add in pics from your memorable 2012 rides.

I too do cannot ride at the moment, hanging out with the family with no mountain bikes. However, those look like some great rides you’ve had throughout 2012. I especially like the view from the mountain. I hope you have an even better 2013 and keep sharing those pictures.

Thanks Jarrett. The view from the parkway was onto a rock outcropping in the center of the pic called the Devils Marbleyard.
I did ride a lot last year and hope to do the same this year. The camera will be loaded. 😀

I did a whole lot more riding this year than last, thanks mostly to the road bike I got in June. I’ve put over 1,100 miles on that bike, mostly commuting. Lots of really great MTB rides this year. Did a few races, rode pretty well in them for the most part. Did not, however, have any really good rides at the Snake, even though I did finish all three races. Hope to do much better in 2013…and I’ll get my first chance next weekend! Looking forward to 2013!
Many of these pics some of you will have seen before…
Snake #1 – lost my chain 4 miles from the finished. Hiked two miles, then rolled the descent to the finish.
Snake #2 – race the Slingshot review bike.
My Snake belt 😈
Big group on the Weds night ride.
South Georgia road ride.
Big boy.
Another big boy.
Our hotel/gas station/carwash/fryer for the Black Bear Rampage.
BBR finish area.
Me racing at the GA SS Championships
Another pic from the GA SS Championships
Out on an 80 mile MTB ride, on our way to the next trai.
Aaron (foreground) rode off this bridge, landed on his head about 7ft down on the bank near the bottom. He was fine. Cracked his helmet though.
One of my college roommates visited for a few days and I took him MTBing. Dude can wheelie for days.
Modoc trail.
More Modoc.
Baker’s Dozen pre-ride.

Great pics dgaddis. Except for getting "Snakebit", sounds like you had a good year of riding.
Is that turtle a snapper?

Nice review and pics, CraigCreekRider!
@dgaddis
I’m glad to hear Aaron is alright. That had to be pretty freaky for everyone involved.
Also, I hate your college roommate. 😆 -

No problem, awesome that you have such great adventures to share.
Don’t know how I forgot this ride when coming up with the initial post.
Kapusta and I rode Dragons Back from one end to the other in the Spring. Awesome ride with way too much hike a bike.
