Cinema Sunday: Downmall

We’ve all dreamed about riding our mountain bikes in places that we know would get us thrown in jail… through the middle of a crowded mall being one of those places.

At this annual race in Prague, though, a lucky group of riders get to legally do just that in front of hoards of screaming fans:

Your Turn: What other urban settings do you think would be great for mountain biking?

My name is Greg Heil, and I am the Editor in Chief for Singletracks.com. I've been mountain biking seriously since 2005, and I love to travel and ride new trails. My travels have taken me across the United States multiple times. To date (March 2013), I have ridden hundreds of different trails in 17 different states, and am adding more singletrack to my trail resume every year! I enjoy all types of mountain biking, from ultra endurance cross country all the way up to chair lift-accessed downhill runs.

  1. I ALWAYS think about riding the mall when I’m there, hahahahaa. And another place I think about riding is the airport, including the parking garages and some creative brainstorming I think a cool course could be had.I also I started a thread 4 years ago that seems to keep getting views so here is a link to some urban alternatives,,http://forums.singletracks.com/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=1975
That mall course seemed pretty short but that drop was pretty cool.I wonder how a skyscraper would do as well, probably ALOT of stairs, but the course could take off into certain floors that had open floors that would allow for drops to the next floor down like in the mall course.
