Cinema Sunday: “Trials Riding on Killer rocks in Moab – Jeremy VanSchoonhoven”

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

I love watching videos of urban trails riding, because really, who can’t help but love Danny Macaskill? But personally, I think trials really reaches its ultimate application when it is done in a natural setting. When I’m out on the trail, these are the skills that I wish I had in my possession to really turn the world into my own personal playground.

Since most of us are not nearly this gifted on a mountain bike, I guess we will all just have to enjoy this video of Jeremy VanSchoonhover turning the boulders and cliffs of Moab into his own unique interpretation of a mountain bike trail:

Cinema Sunday: Silvia at Sun Peaks Bike Park – Matt Miles

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Coming to you from British Columbia, this video might capture the essence of downhill mountain biking better than any video I’ve ever seen!

That, and the fact this guy is flippin’ flyin’ down the mountain with more steeze than I can even dream of possessing, make this video worthy of a Cinema Sunday, as well as Video of the Year accolades on Pinkbke.

Cinema Sunday: “Degree Masters of Movement – Darren Berrecloth”

Sunday, May 6th, 2012

This is easily the best deodorant commercial I have ever seen.

“Himalayan High” Video: Mountain Biking in Nepal

Monday, April 30th, 2012

HimalayanRides, a mountain bike touring company in Nepal that works in conjunction with Sacred Rides, just released a new video featuring the Himalayan trails and some of the locales that you can visit on their tours. They put it better than I ever could:

The Mustang region in the Himalayas of Nepal is a land so beautiful, it has long been the ultimate dream for adventurers all over the world. Here, the sacred peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri – shining with snow all year round, tower over the Kali Gandaki River, forming the deepest valley on the planet.

Follow local rider Mandil Pradhan as he rides in the shadows of the world’s highest mountains, through mystic Himalayan villages, on trails that have been trodden upon for centuries.

Enjoy the video:

Cinema Sunday: Danny Macaskill: “Industrial Revolutions”

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

Danny Macaskill, the trials genius and Youtube legend with millions upon millions of views to his name, is at it again in “Industrial Revolutions.”

Sit back and enjoy if you can… or if you’re like me, sit on the edge of your seat with your mouth hanging open.

Cinema Sunday: Anthill Films: “Strength in Numbers”

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

Strength in Numbers, the new mountain bike film from Anthill that premiered in Monterey, California on April 20, isn’t about how one segment of the sport is the pinnacle and all others are secondary. Instead, it preaches the message that we are all mountain bikers, no matter the size of our wheels or the amount of suspension on our bikes. And we have Strength in Numbers.

As Anthill wrote on their blog after a trip to Nepal:

Like the trails we experienced in Nepal, Strength In Numbers is about the threads that tie different communities of mountain bikers together. The bike is a tool of connections. Tire to ground. Foot to pedal. Hand to handlebar. Effort put out, in turn rewarded with full body happiness.

Enjoy the trailer.

Cinema Sunday: “Finding Flow”

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

Finding Flow is a story which takes one through the idea of flow, not only through biking, but also nature. It goes through each aspect of mountain biking, from the creation of trails themselves to sending huge jumps, something that every rider can relate to and appreciate.

Following in the recent trend of films being shot solely in the state of North Carolina (The Hunger Games), this full-length 26-minute video from NC was filmed and produced without any sponsor help at all. It was simply produced by a bunch of local riders who have a passion for building, riding, filming, and finding the flow:

Cinema Sunday: “10 Things I Have Learned about Mountain Biking”

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

Set in the wondrous beauty of the Alps, this video summarizes 10 things that epitomize the sport of mountain biking that we can all probably relate to. The mastermind behind the movie describes it this way:

Head wind is an inspiring phenomenon: Every time I come home from riding the mountains, my mind is full of new impressions. This short film sums up some of the simple yet complex insights that struck me while riding my mountainbike.

Enjoy. And please share your learnings.

Cinema Sunday: “Episodio 4: Jorge Aguin y Aaron Caballero”

Sunday, March 25th, 2012

In case you can’t read Spanish, let me give you the spark notes:

This series was created by Juan VP and features Jorge Aguín, and his buddy, Aarón Caballero, who is one of the best riders in Galicia (Spain), is joining him in this video.

And get this: Aarón is only 17 years old. Talk about an up-and-coming ripper!

Great job, guys!

Cinema Sunday: Hans Rey at Singltrek pod Smrkem

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

A few months back we posted an amazing video from Petr Slavik of some gorgeous trails in the Czech Republic. A few weeks later I also wrote an article about all the IMBA Ride Centers around the world, including Singltrek pod Smrkem in the Czech Republic (the first Ride Center in Europe).

Both of those blog posts come together in today’s Cinema Sunday featuring world-renowned rider Hans Rey shredding the sweet trails of Singltrek pod Smrkem. From the looks of it, this area definitely deserved the Ride Center designation!

Video: Fat Bike vs. XC Skier

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Back in December Greg posted a video showing a race between a snowboarder and a downhill mountain biker but here’s a new take: fat bike vs. cross-country skier. It’s pretty rad to see how much speed the skier gets even on the flats but the fat bike rider’s no slouch either. Who will win? Watch to find out.
