Description: This is a pretty cool trail! I know it sounds awful, but it's a great ride!! About a mile into the trail, there is a horrible steep hill that drops for about 200 ft, then it's back up the other side...there is horrible washout on this part, so be careful!! My brakes went out on this part, so it was not very fun! Ha! The rest of the trail is really nice...a narrow track through lush forests, and a few good jumps along the way!!

Trail is great. Boris is an idiot!

I thought this ride provided a good variety of heart pumping climbs and some calculating decents. Some portions can be technical but not overly tough. It's a great ride and well worth the $2 fee.

Gotta admit I'm surprised at the bad review below. Sounds more like a $2 complaint. Anyway, I've got to say that Southside is one of my favorite trails even though I'm quite bored with it; I'm only 15 minutes away, so it's by far the most convenient. I've ridden Catawba Riverfront, Francis Beatty, North Mecklenberg, Renassaince Park, Beech Spring ( all near Charlotte ), Pee Wee's, Lynche's Woods, Bent Creek, and a small handfull in TN, WVa, Va, and AR. I guess I've ridden about 25 different trails. So, I can say that Southside ( de Dump ) has some of the most fun, challenging, and varied trails in the area. I don't know why some say it's boring. Perhaps they only rode down near the creek. That section has some sandy parts but the total length of deep sand is maybe 70 yards. Last, ALL SC trails and parks charge two bucks now! Just buy an annual SC pass for about $50.
