Description: Switchbacking singletrack through heavily wooded BLM area. Leave parking lot and go straight across Mill Rd. and follow BLM signs toward gate and beginning of marked singletrack. Climb emerges from the trees and into rolling sagebrush fields, you will encounter some trail splits along the way (stay to the left of the BLM road) along with some short burst climbs. Recommend going down the Pool/Ice Rink trail from above the East Eagle connection for an extended downhill/cool-down ride to the trail-head (will increase total ride by @ 2 mi.).

What a great trail! more like 4.5 stars--and so easily accessible. This is a quick, easy stop if you're passing through and want to log an hour or two. There are a number of loop options so it's best to check the map at the base of the fire road to get yoruself oriented. Once on the trail, most of the intersections have the brown BLM markers--although the BLM didn't put trail names on the markers (just who's allowed to ride them), somebody hand wrote names or abbreviations on most of them. I did the climb up Boneyard and the return descent on East Eagle and Redneck Ridge. Boneyard is a great climb--the kind of climbing I think I could do forever, and actually enjoy doing it in the process. The grade is never too steep and there are recovery periods between the many easy switchbacks. The much rockier Redneck Ridge makes a great descent. It did it on my hardtail, but probably would have done it faster on my fully. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. It's also a great alternatrive when the higher country is still snowed in or when the lower desert is too hot.

Love this trail as well. Nothing too difficult (no hike and bike...) Good climbs with fun descents. Fun rolling and relatively smooth trails, but late summer tends to produce some deep ruts at the bottom if coming down on the south side of the road.

I ride this trail all the time. One of the steepest sections is the fireroad up to the gate- the entrance to the trail. The switchbacks are pretty tight and the trail has three basic secions that all start with climbs followed by a little downhill. I reccomend the "Racetrack" down as well. Once you reach the gate at the end of the Boneyard, turn left back onto the fire road and take your first right back into the trees. Straight ahead is the mentioned Pool/ Ice Rink trail, right is the Racetrack. Much rockier than the pool route, but super fun.

Similar Trail: World's Greatest, backside of Eagle Ranch neighborhood. Good climbs, long descents.
