Description
This trail will kick your (well, you know)! NORBA has a race here once a year. It is a really big event. This trail is tough from start to finish. The elevation is unbelievable! I didn't think the Hill Country meant HILLS! If you don't believe me, check out the map (at the link I supplied, if it works right). This is a very good test of your cardio fitness. Good luck to you and your heart because Tapatio Springs will break both! Awesome riding though and TOUGH climbs.

Review: Some of the best tech climbing in the area close to San Antonio. the downhill at the end is also probably the longest downhill I have found in the state of TX so far, very fast with tight techy switchbacks. The only thing I wish is that it was double or tripple the length. I hear there is talk with the new owner, but who really knows.

Review: Probably my favorite San Antonio ride, very similar to Flat Rock Ranch only closer. Usually ridden clockwise, if you're gassed near the end, tackle the switchbacks and press on, or turn around and return counter-clockwise for more mileage. Nice rock ledges mixed with some fast sections. Great views around the golf course.

Review: While I don't particularly care for Central/South Texas Mt Biking (east coaster here), this is def. one of the best. Very similar to Flat Rock Ranch in all facets. Good all-around cross country singletrack Opening climb is a beast but after that it's just your usual flowing, rocky, ragged, sketchy TX trail. Technically challenging (wouldnt bring a beginner) but nothing serious. The best part about this trail is that there are incredible views EVERYWHERE and it's based out of a golf resort. $6 fee to ride + map

Review: I couldn't agree more with the above review: plenty of climbs, very technical, and many opportunities to spill onto jagged rocks al la Homer Simpson at the Springfield Gorge. So long as you have no shame walking parts of the trail, you'll enjoy some fantastic views of the Hill Country.

Review: It is $6 to ride. It is worth it! The trail starts off behind the main campus of the resort at the back of the property. You should have no problem finding it (ask at the front desk where you check in). The trail head starts off with a small climb. Half way up that initial hill, you will see a Jeep road that is off to the right aligning the golf course below. Note: When making that first climb off the parking lot, do not continue all the way to the top of the hill. Remember that the trail really starts half way up the hill on the right. If you go all the way to the top, you will follow a trail that disintegrates and you will be lost in the middle of the woods looking for a trail that isn't there. Once on the Jeep road, follow it to where the single track begins. This trail consists of a lot of tough climbs, but the pay-off is amazing - downhills! There are a few rock gardens, a lot of switchbacks, and fast flat areas. This is definitely one of the best trails I've ridden. Near the end of the trail, once you've reached the highest peak, you can opt to take the paved road down to the hotel (extremely fast on the paved road), or you can take the switchbacks down the trail. The grade is extremely steep, which makes for a great ride. The descent will require good brakes and balance as you maneuver the switchbacks down the steep hill. This trail is definitely a difficult trail that will require some experience going up rocky hills and steps. Even though a novice rider will find the trail more of a chore than a pleasure, I still recommend giving it a try.
