Description: This section of the TRT offers awesome views of the Carson Valley and takes you to the highest point on the TRT at Freel Peak. The trail offers multiple options for creating your own loop, however, even the shortest loop will likely take you well over 3 hours. If you continue to Big Meadows, you will have covered approx 23 miles. This ride earns the designation of "epic" if you choose to ride from Kingsbury South to Saxon Creek (Toads) and connect with the Powerline trail into South Lake Tahoe ( 5 hours). From there you climb back up to where you parked your car or hitch a ride.
It's mostly fast and fun singletrack that twists around beautiful redwoods, rocks, rivers, etc. It's long and after 15+ miles of nonstop downhill most people will be beat, so it's not for the faint of heart. We usually stay for a couple of days, get two shuttle runs in one day, and then just chill the rest of the time. The more hardcore riders will do more.
