Description
This trail has some of the biggest jumps in Catawba County. This place is a network of singletrack ranging in technical and aerobic difficulty. At the start of the trailhead there are some major stunts that First Flight Bicycles have put together. Along the paved path there is a BMX park with some big jumps that can make or break you. Along the lake there is some good scenery to be seen. Overall this is a good network of trails.

Review: All around a solid trail. This trail will work you though. Great for training and cardio. Intermediate skill level ... can be very difficult for beginners. Very rooty ... through most sections, relatively technical, nice downhills, lengthy climbs, drops, crossings. Easy to skip sections if wanted. Fairly easy to follow. Dries quickly. Not too bad when wet (sopping) even with slick roots. Not too many riders on the trails at once. Nice pump/jump track between trail sections. (warning to those who are afraid of snakes ... there are quite a lot of black snakes during spring/summer months)* Review edited 5/19/2012* Review edited 5/19/2012

Review: I have been riding these trails for the past two months, after riding Mtn bikes again and I must say the trails at South Shore are very well maintained. The trails are well marked and provide a great flow. I would catagorize myself as a beginer who is looking for fun while exercising. The South Shore trails have provided hours of fun while delerviring a very challanging pace. I would like to thank those who maintain these trails and keep them in such excelent condition. Peter

NO FEE JUST COME OUT AND RIDE AND NO MATTER WHAT SKILL LEVEL, JUST HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE...............................THE TRAIL IS VERY TECHNICAL, ROOTY, OFF CAMBER TURNS, BRIDGE CROSSINGS, AND MAKE SURE YOUR BRAKES WORK VERY GOOD. YOU GOT TO FIND AND PICK GOOD LINES. AND NO OTHER TRAIL IS PUSH MY HEART RATE LIKE THIS TRAIL.........THE TRAIL IS 5 MILES LONG AND THE FASTEST TIME SOO FAR ON THIS TRAIL IS 34 MINS................ALSO THE TRAIL IS WELL MARKED, BUT IF YOU GET LOST YOUR ALWAYS CLOSE TO THE PAVED WALKING TRAIL, THE TRAIL IS AWSOME 3 GUYS BUILT THE WHOLE TRAIL MY HATS OFF TO THEM..........IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION MY NAME IS JASON AND MY E-MAIL ADDRESS IS JCaldwell704@yahoo.com

Review: GET OFF I-40 TO 321 NORTH, TAKE A RIGHT, IN BETWEEN NISSAN DEARLER SHIP AND ARBYS. GO OVER SOME RAIL ROAD TRACKS TAKE A IMEDIATE LEFT AFTER THE RAIL ROAD TRACKS, AND TAKE UR FIRST RIGHT. GO UP THE HILL TO STOP SIGN AND TAKE LEFT, HICKORY CITY PARK SITS ON UR LEFT.......................... THE TRAIL CRISS CROSSES OVER A PAVED WALKING ROAD. SO IF SOMETHING HAPPENS, UR NOT TOO FAR FROM THE PAVED WALKING ROAD. THE TRAIL IS MOSTLY UNMARKED, BUT U CAN KINDA FIND UR WAY AROUND. I GOT LOST A FEW TIMES. JUST SO HAPPEN A LOCAL WAS OUT THERE AND TAGGED ALONG WITH HIM. THE TRAIL IS TECHNICAL, CLIMBING, AND ON THE BREAKS AND ROOTY.......... THE TRAIL IS TOUGHER THAN PEE-WEES IN THE ASPECTS OF TRAIL RIDDING. BUT PEE-WEES IS BETTER MARKED AND BETTER MAINTAINED.* Review edited 1/11/2007* Review edited 1/11/2007
