My favorite trail in Texas. Great swoopy, flowibg single track once one gets past Fat Chucks. All segments are well marked at the trails are very well maintained. As of spring of 2010 the original tenants, the owners, Pam and Grey, are once again managing the land. Water points are kept filled. The Salloon Cafe is gone, however the owners intend to convert into a convenience type store. Get your after ride jalapeno cheesburgers at the Roadhouse outside Bastrop State Park. The Salloon Building does have working showers for post ride; also camping on site. More difficult due to length, Fat Chuck;s, and the Texas heat.

This is a great Mountain Bike Playground! There is something for everyone. Don;t get discourage with the first mile or so which is a big climb up to the top of the hill. After you get up there, wherer by Fat Chucks or the "easy way up" the rest is alot of fun, with some really nice single track. The Grind and the wall are thrilling! Some of the best trail riding I have seen in TExas.

This trail is a great experience for riders of any skill level. Although there is lots of double track, beginners will still be tested because there is no escape from some long climbs. Fat Chuck's demise will wear you out early, but take a good rest and your second wind will carry you through the rest of the trails. If you choose to bike to the back of the map you will go through an open pasture and bike amongst the cattle (watch out for cactus if you get off the trail). Tunnel of the Pines is pretty cool, and most the trails on this end are covered in a soft layer of pine straw. If you choose to take the west fenceline on your way back definately hit up black trac. This trail is not as difficult as the black diamond suggests, but offers some pretty sweet thrills (the grind and the wall). All in all a great place to spend a few hours. It definately feels longer than your computer claims. Stop by the saloon, grab a Shiner and thank R.B. for keeping this place killer.

This place is like a trail riders playground, it's got something for everyone. A huge selection of great trails with lots of diversity/difficulty levels/etc. Mostly singletrack with a few jeep roads here and there. This place really takes care of the riders - good trail markings, several water stations with tables and maps, and even a bike shop a the trail head. I did this one right around new years...had some beautiful weather for the season and I decided to take advantage of it. I lucked out because almost all of the creeks were completely dry so I had almost no mud/water to deal with. The trails are marked really well and the map they have on their website www.boomersrockyhill.com is very helpful. I rode the entire big loop, around 16 miles I think. There are a lot of different "extra credit" side trails you could take to add extra miles or more diversity to your ride. I could easily spend a weekend at this place, lots of stuff to keep you interested. My favorite section was Off The Lip - a great twisting singletrack with amazing flow and lots of little elevation changes in a beautiful pine forest. I believe in the summer this is where a large number of the creek crossings take place, which would drastically change the conditions and possibly the level of enjoyment. All in all a great place to ride and apparently they have good food if the owners are around. Definitely worth the drive if you're in the area.

If you are looking for one of Texas’ best mountain bike trails, look no further. RHR provides you with steep climbs, tight, fast single-track and faster downhills. From the start, RHR will let you know just how good of a climber you are (or aren’t) thanks to the multiple steep climbs of Fat Chuck’s Demise. If you don’t make it, don’t feel bad – just lay down next to Chuck’s headstone and admit defeat. For those wishing to avoid such craziness, there is a partial bypass known as Gray’s Way. Karaway follows, but isn’t anything to write home about; on the other hand, it does lead to Off the Lip, a parade of whoop-dee-do’s that wind in and out of a dry creek bed. If the Lip doesn’t put a huge smile on your face then you need to go faster or find another hobby. After the Lip, you hit the service road for a very short stretch until you reach Water Station 2 and on to Longhorn Loop. Longhorn Loop is followed by Tris Cross and both are nice stretches of single-track on your way to Omar’s Howl. The only catch with Omar’s Howl is that if there is water at the bridge either splash on in or carry your bike across the not-so-complete bridge (hopefully it’s fixed by my next ride). Right before Water Station 3 you have a choice, hit the service road back to the start or finish the rest of RHR. If you choose the latter, make sure you hit Y Knot?, it has the same effect as Off the Lip. Guaranteed! Towards the end is Black Trac, described as the grand finale of RHR, and rightfully so. Imagine the best of RHR all at once. Right before you think it’s all over you come to The Wall – think whoop-dee-do on crack. Between the multiple water stations, the optional 6, 9, 10, and 12 mile bailouts, and once upon a time a saloon, Rocky Hill has you covered. Like I said, RHR is one of Texas’ best trails…perhaps THE best. You name it, it has it – and what it has is oh so sweet.

Pretty much same as below. Beer and burger joint on hold for now. PLACE IS AWESOME!. Fat Chucks will eat your lunch, but once you reach the congrats tree the fun begins. Very organized in direction so you don't get too lost. Water stops with maps to keep you on the right track. This is a must ride for any level rider. Be sure to make your way to the back (past Hay meadow, to Avenue of the Pines). Avenue and Tunnel of the Pines is Gorgeous. Like riding through a giant hall of trees, a definite must see. Put this one on your list!!!

This place is just amazing. Miles and miles of manicured singletrack wind through The Lost Pines pine forrest. The ranch has trails for all skill levels, so bring the whole family. Boomer, one extra cool guy, runs the repair shop with the know-how to fix your bike right. There's a grill at the entrance to the ranch with cold beer and amazing burgers. If you have the chance, make the run out to Smithville and you won't regret it. See more infomation here: http://www.boomersrockyhill.com/
