Description: Part of the Kerr Scott Reservoir trail complex(including Dark Mountain #752 and Fish Dam Creek trails). This trail is part of the federally-designated Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail. It follows the general route that American patriots from the area trod to confront the British Army during the Battle of Kings Mountain in October 1780. Overmountain Victory Trail is a flowing ribbon of singletrack which runs parallel to N.C. 268 just to the S, and Kerr Reservoir on your N. It offers great views of the lake throughout its entire 5+ miles. The trail consists of short climbs followed by quick downhills - plenty of twists and turns. Bridge crossings, jumps, berms, and a creek crossing - this trail has it all. The best out-and-back I've ever ridden! Approximate ascent one-way is about 525ft. So, the full out-and-back will give you about 1050ft of total climb.

Fun trail. My 9 year old daughter was able to ride it but pick up the pace and its very fun for the experienced. Never really technical so look elsewhere if you want to be challenged. Just let ot fly and see how fast you get nefore you scare yourself!

Outstanding mountain trail. It flows great with lots of burmed turns and long downhills. It is an out and back so keep an eye ahead on the trail. Shiner's run is a worthy additional two mile loop. It is sweet out and back. This is an easier version of Warrior Creek.

This trails is awsome for a fast fun ride. Be sure and run the SHiners loop like previously mentioned. You will only miss about a 1/4 mile of the OVT but you will add around another 2 miles to the out and back and its worth it. I ussually start out up the road a bit at Warrior Creek and run that loop then pack up and drive down to Dark Mountain and run the Burn Loop. Take a little break then ride across the dam and ride the OVT for the final ride of the day. If you do one lap at WC, DM, and the out and back on the OVT you have just put in 34 miles. I usually do two laps at WC. Makes for a great day of riding.

First of all, the Kerr Scott Reservoir is an awesome place to ride. I was visiting from Indiana and I was very impressed. This trail is the easiest that they have. It has a little bit of everything, and what a work out. When you go out and back and combine the shiners loop one of the ways, it totals almost 15 miles. Do the OVT in the morning and head to Dark Mountain after a much needed break and some lunch. If you need any help or just a trail map go to the visitors center, they are very nice and very helpful. Enjoy this park, its really great. Great for a weekend trip. Beautiful lake too.

It has been quite a while since I rode this trail. I seem to remember it was a fun trail. I will have to check it out with my new Jamis 650B1. I think it flowed pretty well but I truly can not remember.

Snow on the ground at my house so made a day trip with a couple of friends. Rode Dark Mtn., Overmountain Victory, and Shiners Loop Trails. Would be a great weekend getaway. Ride the afore mentioned trails one day and Warrior Creek Trails the next. Very fun Trail system. Some roots, a few rocks, some small climbs (250' max elev. change), but mostly fun fast rolling bermed single-track. Leaves were down making the trails some-what slippery so had to watch our speed, but was still a blast as the leaves didn't stick to the steep berms. Trails suitable for beginner to expert, just a matter of how fast you want to ride.

Alot of trees down after some bad storms in the area. It was still very rideable but kind of annoying. These trails have great maintnance and I am sure it will be cleaned up within a week or two

Very fun trail. Smooth, well worn singletrack - A few climbs, and some brief rooty sections. Not very difficult technically, but can be a challenging cardio run when you set a hard pace. Lots of roller coaster drops, berms and turns. And don't miss the Shiner Loop. Its a great offshoot from the main trail.

By far one of our favorites on our NC/WV tour. The track isn't crazy technical, but it's fast, flowing, and lots of fun! We ran the Overmountain Victory trail to Shiner's Run, then back up to the trail head and were grinning like fools the whole way. The banked turns add to the speed and fun, and the trail is meticulously maintained- not swept clean, but it drains well and is smooth and fast when there aren't roots. I liked it better than Tsali just for the fun factor. It was a workout without being brutally uphill or crazy downhill, though it did have the best steep downhill grades of all the trails we rode.

This trail is phenomenal, especially as a cool-down or recovery ride after doing either Warrior Creek or Dark Mountain. It isn't technically challenging, per say, but it has HUGE opportunity for lightning-fast riding. Almost every turn is bermed, the climbs are gradual, yet it is still a good work-out since there is some elevation change. Highly recommended!

We just rode all the Dark Mountain trails including OVT this weekend. The newest improvement is the 2.5 loop addition called Shinners Run. Shinners Run takes the fun OVT fun and magnifies it for 2.5 miles of blasting downhill and flat pedaling fun. Just when I think the Brushy MTB Club have done it all, they go and add even better trails to great trails. Wow...that was a blast!

Truly one of the best trails I have ridden in my short time mountain biking. This trail is just fun, had a smile on my face the entire ride..... smooth rolling single track where you get a good reward for the short climbs you make. I missed the added loop in the middle of the out and back, just gives me another reason to go back.

Most well thought out and fun trail that I have ridden in 18 years of mountain biking. An amazing amount of work went into all those berms, and the way the trail meanders in relation to the topography is perfect. I had a stupid open mouth smile on my face for a lot of the out and back. I loved it in both directions. My favorite section is the 2.1 miles from mountain berry park to bandit's roost. I remember there being a mile in there where I did not feel like I pedaled, just pumped turn after turn and flew through the forest. It is really worth a drive to that area in general. Dark mountain is awesome too, but but this trail is a masterpiece...Yes I will say it out loud: "Better, mile for mile, than Tsali."

Probably the most fun, flowing, fast singletrack my fat tires have ever touched. Not as technical as it's sister trail, Dark Mountain, but maybe higher on the fun meter. Great smooth, packed singletrack with hardly a root to be found. Great flow, fast with tons of high berms to blast through staying off the brakes if you can! This combined with Dark Mountain are the next best thing to Tsali, the Holy Grail of singletrack in southeast US! Camp at Bandits Roost as the trailhead is connected to the campground!

What a great trail! I just rode the route from Bandits Roost campground down to the W. Kerr Resivoir visitor center. Lots of fast downhills filled with berms(very fun) and a few short ascents to finish out the trail. If I were to choose between the OVT and Dark Mountain I would choose the OVT.

Awesome trail - unlike anything else in the area. It's all singletrack, but this trail flows so amazingly fast. The climbs aren't steep or long, but they are plentiful on the way out to Bandit's Roost. You will realize on your way out that the return ride will be blistering. The berms are built very well, so riding in with speed isn't a problem. There are plenty of roots so you have to be ready for some slippage, but that's the fun of mountain biking.
