Review: Midland is a beautiful trail that can get very hot. I would recommend bringing a good camera and riding the trail in the morning because most of it is on the western side of the mountain. I did this from downtown BV and accidentally hopped onto a hiker only trail that wasn't marked (oops), but it was really fun. I wouldn't drive to BV to ride this, but next time I go rafting I'll hit up Midland again.* Review edited 8/30/2011

Review: Nice singletrack, good little climb to start the trail off. Rode it from the Arkansas River right off Main St, and the trail branched in a couple directions, and I have no idea if I stuck on the Midland trail or rode another one. Couple semi-technical sections, nothing overwhelming but enough to make you work a bit. Coming down's fast & fun. Took the girlfriend on the trail (beginner rider) and she enjoyed it, so it's that type of trail.

Review: This is a fun trail with easy accessibility from the Buena Vista river park. If you start from the river park in town the first mile is a fairly challenging climb to the rail road grade. Once you hit the rolling single track it's pretty easy and a lot of fun.

Review: I have done quite a bit of riding in this area, and have often bypassed this particular trail due to descriptions. I have missed out on some good riding. Starting with a road on the old grade is fun if you are into history, and then the single starts, and is is just plain fun. You can make it hard if you want to in many of the arroyo crossings, and there are great views along the way. A good DO IT if you have the time in the area.

Review: Much easier going back into town than away from it. Good for kids, as long as they control downhill speed.

Review: This trail was really a pleasant surprise. I only stopped here because I had my 7yr old son with me. I fully expected nothing special with boring scenery. What I got was a unique experience. Since the trail is an old railroad bed, it's rather wide and has a very moderate grade. However, there's a few places where the railroad crossed ravines on trestles. The trestles are now gone, so you have to drop in and climb out of the ravines, so there's a small technical fix. The scenery isn't alpine like nearby rides at higher elevations, but it's really cool cruising through all the rock formations that were cut through for the railroad. Finally, the season here is much longer than in the surrounding alpine areas. It's worth a stop, especially of other options are snowed in.
