Description: there are some low lying areas so be sure to ride spikes. its okay to go off the beaten path, most of the deer paths link with other little known trails
This tiny loop shouldn't be advertised as a mountain bike trail. If this is singletrack, it's very wide singletrack. I logged onto this site because I thought I had missed a biking opportunity so close to home, only to find out that this is the same place I had been taking my dog for hikes for the last 8 years. I guess it would help if the name of the location was spelled correctly. It's Messenger Woods Forest Preserve in unincorporated Will County. While there are no signs saying bikes are prohibited, 4 times around the same 2 mile loop is boring! Though occasionally you may see some white deer. Leave it to the dog walkers. Even a beginner would do well to head a few miles north to the Palos Forest Preserves, as the multi-use trails can be challenging and you can work your way up to the REAL mountain bike trails at Turtlehead Lake.
AWESOME beginner trail! First single track I've ever done, but I can't wait to go back and hope to do it a couple times every week after work. 2 mile loop, did it four times, every time getting faster and taking on the bigger logs across the trails, mud patches, etc. GREAT place with no horses and just 3 people walking the 2 hours I was there. Small loop, but fun.
Messanger Woods in off limts for bike unless you would like to ride around in the parking lot. not only that but the trails s***. lots of horse abuse doesn't make for a fun ride
