Description: As of 6/3/2000 trail is not completly finished but should be by the Fall, still there are several miles of good riding. trail is an abandon railroad which has been paved, is mostly long straight stretches with slight grades. Easy going but very nice scenery in places with a good deal of wildlife; the piece between Jackson Road and Epley is very nice. There are restrooms oalond this part and more are being built. Completed trail will run from Hattiesburg @ USM campus to Prentiss, MS with a horse riding trail to parallell it from Bassfeild (near Sumrall) to Prentiss. Jim Moore at Moores Bike Shop in Hattiesburg has worked hard to make this trail a reality and can give more info if needed.

40 Miles of paved doubletrack from Hattiesburg, MS to Prentiss, MS. Are adding another couple miles to extend it through downtown Hattiesburg.(in the works) Part of the Rails to Trails system. Great for the road bikers and leisure walks. They have added approx 8 to 10 miles of singletrack mtn bike trails on both sides past the Jackson road depot.

some singletract has been added west of Jackson Road. It is probably about 5 miles and is enough for a good workout, a few small hills. Fun if you are from Hattiesburg...

This would be a great workout for road riders especially since the scenery is soothing but for a mtb'er it was enjoyable till the very end when two different sets of dogs charged out from their backyards foaming at the mouth. I'LL PASS.
