Overall the trail is a decent mix of trail features. Some sections are flowy and smooth, some rooty and at times painful, some tough climbs and tight trails.

Compared to the Rappahannock/quarry trails, these are my favorite of the trails in the Fredericksburg area. There is a lot of tight, twisty singletrack here with a few root infested climbs and downhills. There are plenty of roots and logs to hop over. This place is a lot of fun.

Rode it 08-12-2011. Trail is in good shape. Hard packed. Nice trail. Not a lot of climbing and no big drops or rock gardens. But a good workout and plenty technical in places to challenge all but the hard core. A little bit for everyone. The only thing that would keep me from taking aggressive beginners on this trail is the length. 9ish miles. Otherwise aggressive beginners would have a blast building confidence and learning to ride out here. Plenty of challenge for intermediates. Still fun for advanced cross country riders. The signage has been improved. There is very good signage now. Arrows pointing the direction to go and mile markers. There are plenty of short cuts if you don't want to ride the entire 9 miles. But you would need a GPS or local knowledge to figure out where to break the trail to get out.

This trail is pretty sweet , Im a begginer so it was quite a challenge , very tight track tricky for a begginer to navigate through and i went solo got lost around mile 7.5 or so ended up going through a yard to get on the main road to get back to my truck ,some parts are marked well others a maze should have ridden with someone who has ridden it before. Wasnt sure if i took a wrong turn and it actually would be a 17 miler not prepared for that.

Nice trail system. To clarify the directions, the Rappahanock River is 2.8 miles after you get off I-95 at Exit 130A. You turn right after the river to remain on Route 3 (east). Hollywood Farms road (also State Road 601) comes up on your left in 6.4 miles. For the most part, the trail is well marked with both distances and direction. I lost the path around the 6 mile mark when it began to break out into some overgrown fields. I logged about 7 miles on my ride. It was worth the $5 honor fee...the trail was pretty well tended.

When you drive down the gravel road and come around to the trail head there is a large sign and a box requiring you to pay $5 to use the trail. Luckily I had cash on me. While the trail did parallel itself and cross back in forth I enjoyed the challenging terrain of the hills and sharp turns. Some areas of the trail are not well marked and difficult to tell which way to go, while others are marked excessively.

Similar Trail: Accotnik Trail is similar in the back trails but not as extreme.

This trail was fun but turns into an annoyance. Most of the 8 miles was just the trail going back and forth. The trail just parallels each other for the most part. It is very scrunched together. The trail is maintained and in good condition but the trail style just wasn't for me.

This trail is a lot like Fountainhead--exactly 8 miles (if you stick to the main route) with a lot of short, steep drops into and climbs out of various drainages. At least two of the climbs are more challenging than anything at Fountainhead. Overall, the trail has good variety with a mixture of fast singletrack but more very narrow and twisty. No rocks to speak of, but lots and lots of roots and a few large log crossings. There's a $5 honor system box--well worth it.

This is a good trail. There is not a lot of uphills but the trail flows well and is fast. They say that it is 17 miles but it's more like 6.

open, good trail, typical east coast single track, technical and tight, apply speed to increase difficulty.

Similar Trail: the quarry

Awesome trails that have many good singletrack loops to take. Some places have a rough climb but they are usually very short. Also it is located down a dirt road right after the train tracks.

Yes the Hollywood farm road is hard to find because it is only off the east side of the highway. Great singletrack, and even better when it’s muddy. If you have problems finding location the bike shop in Fredericksburg can put you in the right direction.

Similar Trail: Quantico

This is the first trail I've mountain biked. I've ridden it 5 times now and it never gets old. A little something for everyone. Bridges, hills, switch backs, large logs to cross over and streams to dredge through. A real challenge for both beginners and advanced riders.

Similar Trail: None. This is my first.

Passing thru the area and decided to hit this one....definitely a lot of fun! I'm relatively new to the sport, and it challenged me quite a bit....lots of variety and turns, and the creekside sections can be a bit intimidating for a noobie. For the record, it's 5.8 miles on Hwy 3 East from the Walmart to Hollywood Farm Road.

Almost gave up on finding Hollywood Farms road. Good ride. Nice singletrack, nice hills. I rode on the Sunday of Labor day weekend and there were gun shots from a nearby field into the woods where the trails are. Be careful of the locals and their target practice. I had one wiss by me and I yelled at the guy "Biker in the woods!" Luckily, he heard me and stoppped.

This trail has it all. The terrain changes from tight fast single track through hardwoods, to sharp switch-backs through pines, to field crossings, to hairy downhill sections leading to river crossings. There are a couple of man made obstacles, muddy sections, and nice root drops. This trail is very private and can be challenging. You will get plenty of uphill sections but you can skip a lot of that by going left after the bridge covered in chicken wire. If you can make it to Fredericksburg you should definately ride this sweet singletrack.

Rode the trail on 6/30/06 after the area received 10-12 inches of rain in three days. There is an arrow marking the start of the trail, but once you get on it, it is easy to get lost. The trail brances off in many different directions. Make sure you bring your GPS. There was a good stream crossing. The gate was open but when I left at 7:00 pm, the gate had been closed and locked. With four wheel drive you can still get out.

Great singletrack! Lots of tight turns, many roots and a few tough climbs, just enough to get your heart going. There are lots of trails and plenty of room to ride all day and not see anyone. I like the bi-directional use of the trail. It lets you get a good feel for going both up and down some of the sections.

Similar Trail: Very similar to ButterMilk but not as tough on the climbs, not as fast as Poor Farm.
