Description: This is an awesome trail that is still under construction. At the current it is 10.5 miles of**ood singletrack that can be a little technical at times. When the trail is finished it will be a 20 mile loop around the lake. This trail is a must do. For continuing info check out the druid city bicycle club's website at www.druidcity.org

I rode the full trail in a counter clockwise motion as one of the park employees suggested it. The tornado loop was definitely fun. The Lightning, Stormy, Tornado, and Five Oaks trail loops branch off of the main trail named the Tashka trail. If you want to ride every little piece of trail I recommend passing the first marker that indicates a trail branch and take the second marker, as they are usually not very far apart. This ride was definitely a work out as all the completed trails now equal approximately 21 to 22 miles. My GPS apparently had low batteries, as it died, otherwise I could have posted the updated loops! I will try to get to it soon. Overall this was a very nice trail with a few difficult climbs and a nice view of the lake.

started at the north trailhead and did the entire loop counterclockwise. The C.C. direction gets the hilly stuff over first, with the last 2-3 miles of trail being easy flat stuff along the lake. Get ready to grind up the trail at mile 15-16, coming out of the spillway. The original trail system (Tashka) seems to flow the best, with some of the extra loops feeling like "added milage", rather than smooth singletrack. However, the tornado and Five oaks loops were good fun. Since it is only 17-18 miles total..go ahead and do all the loops. Smooth trails with little rocks and roots... good fun! Felt alot like Bonita Lakes in Meridian

Great singletrack around the lake; densely wooded trails that spur off Tashka Trail - two incomplete loops were disappointing to see! Watch out for ticks!!! Will be IMBA Epic level ride with completion of Tornado/Storm loops!!

Similar Trail: ?? First and only ride so far in AL - similar to Lincoln Parrish/Bonita Lakes

Excellent trails. Very well built and maintained by druidcity.org. Even though it doesn't have the mileage of an epic trail (~16 at this time) it feels like one. It is also in a beautiful park. I highly recommend camping after a long day of riding.

Similar Trail: Nothing compares in the immediate region.

Great trail, I have ridden all over the united states and this trail will be on my list to come back to. Not real difficult but challenging enough to keep your interest up. Nice flow, up and down many hilly areas. Only down side is it is a loop so out and back or all the way around.

Similar Trail: Bent Bent Creek near Asheville NC.

i am relatively new to MTB riding but have riden on 3 trails all in alabama. lake lurleen is more endurance than technical eventhough parts are technical. great work out with tight hairpin turns at times. there is a moderate amount of hills and down hills with minor jumps. the scenery is great with lots of trees and offcourse the whole trail is surrounds a lake. i would reccomend starting off early in the morning though as alabama weather is hot and humid especially as the day goes along. very nice trail.

The trail is finished! Officially, there are still some "red-tape" areas that are being worked on by the druidcity team (www.druidcity.org), but besides two small sections, its a full loop. I think they're still working on a complicated trail in the northern section, but in terms of riding a full loop, head here. The trail itself is not very technical (the first half going clockwise is a bit trickier due to some tight turns and sandy parts), but if you're looking for an aerobic workout, this trail will not disappoint you. Lots of ups and downs (I think its roughly 200 ft of climbs), pretty decent for the southeast. The trail is well-maintained, and they've been working hard to get some great bridges finished. There's an extra 3 mile loop you can take to make the total round trip just about 15 miles. Without the loop, its a little over 12 miles. I'll post some pictures and you can see for yourself.

Similar Trail: The northern network of Noxubee Creek in Mississippi. (Stay away from fire roads in the south)
