Description: The Katy Trail runs from the West End and the American Airlines Center arena in the south, through Dallas past Knox Street, up to SMU and Mockingbird DART Station in the north. It can be very aerobic or leasurely. The sights are a perfect mix of forest and urban. There are joggers and rollerbladers on the path as well which can be difficult when the trail is busy. I personally love it. The trail is being extended this summer to reach from American Airlines Center to Airline Road near SMU. There will be more entrances and extensions to other parks in the future. The website will keep you updated on progress. http://www.katytraildallas.com

This is an excellent trail for unwitting honkies that feel they are completely safe inside their bubble near their expensive townhomes and apartments. If you ride this trail, be sure to display your brand new iPod prominently, play it loudly so you have no idea what's going on and are completely unaware of your surroundings, and also carry cash, and your top-of-the-line cellphone in your hand if at all possible. Most importantly, stop for any hooded Mexican teenagers you may encounter. They probably just want to ask you how the trail is today.

This is a Rail Trail. All paved and gets crowded when the weather is good. Upside is the "scenery" from the local college is good as well as the trophy wives keeping in shape. It's not 9miles as indicated but about 3-3.5.

I would hardly call this a mountain bike trail, it's paved. Maybe I don't know the whole story, I just moved back to this area. Perhaps the trail continues on past the end of the pavement at SMU. I dunno, I was on my road bike when I went on this trail. As far as a SINGLETRACK is concerned I'll have to rate it low. As far as a bike path, it's great, but not singletrack.
