Review: Wow...For a beginning to intermediate rider, this was a great workout! Some challenging climbs, made a little more challenging by the loose leaves and pine needles covering the trails. LOTS more rocks than I'm used to (in NE Arkansas). I rode at night, hopefully I'll have a chance to go back next week in the daylight. There are a couple places where broken trees are overhanging the trail, looked kind of sketchy to ride under. Easy to follow with the trail map on here, and there are reflective arrows in several places showing direction to go. I gave a 3 only because it could use some work with chainsaws and leaf blowers.

Review: Great trail! Has some nice single track, and I don't think I have ever seen anyone else out there. Be cautious during hunting season (mid Oct thru The end of Jan). It might be a good idea to wear an orange jersey or vest.

Review: Wow...this is no walk in the park Sunday stroll. Don't let the short distance fool you. It's not incredibly steep but it's constantly going up and down. You will get a good cardio workout from this trail.

Review: Good place to polish your climbing and tech skills. Not a lot of fast parts, but fun nevertheless. There are lots of forest roads out here, so you can change up your ride if you get tired of the same ole stuff.....

Review: I consider this trail to be my "home field" I like 10 min from the trail so i try to ride it alot. Its rocky and technical in some sections but very fun. Ride it clockwise to start with for more flowy fun. Climbs will get your legs burning but nothing that can't be done. And if you talk to the right people, there is a screaming downhill run that will not disapoint.

Review: Along with Morgans Best, this is one of the best trails in the Choccolocco WMA. 85% is semi rugged singletrack that will test you with loose rocks and multiple creek crossings. This is the type of ride most MTBers crave and it won't disappoint. Follow the arrows and you can't go wrong. WELL marked.

Review: Great trail of almost total singletrack and drains well in the winter. Nice challenging climbs some that are very difficult for a single-speed. A few creek crossing but nothing too deep. The entrance and exit sections can be sticking red Alabama clay. Great trail, expect to see wildlife.

Review: Rode the trail for the 2nd time with my wife who is new to riding. It has a few tough climbs and a couple of fast downhills, excellent single track in spots. Trail is secluded no one else around and overgrown in some areas. Did I mention a Black bear of 150lbs ran out in front of me 50' away towards the end. First bear I have ever seen. This day was hot 95deg and it made the trail much more difficult. Good trail for serious workout in only 5.7-6 miles.

Similar Trail: None similar, but trails I recommend Desota state park 5miles excellent single track well kept, Raccoon MTN in Chattanooga exceptional singletrack can be an epic ride well maintained similar to Oak MTN but with some greater technical areas, Mt Cheah for

Review: This is a very good trail to ride. Not very long (6.5 miles), but is technical in spots and will make you want to take a nap afterwards if you arent in decent shape. Would not recommend for newbies, as they would be walking the trail in several sections. From the trailhead, you will ride doubletrack (take the left fork after the first climb), and then right onto Iron Legs loop. When you reach the gravel pit, cross the road and pick up the trail on the left. It is easy to get lost towards the end of the trail as some markers are not clear and some trees have been down, but all roads should lead you back to the trailhead. On the way back, keep your eyes open for a short section of singletrack on the left side. Not very long, but worth riding. You will come to a clearing at the end of it, go right to get back out to the dirt road. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

Review: Iron Legs rocks! This area is a complex tangle of trails, Iron legs being the toughest one. It isn't very long on its own, but when you start with Iron Legs, then cross over to Mark's Loop, then to Gene's Loop, then to Linda's Loop, its about 20 miles... A good two hour ride, but ya better be in shape. Trails are very neat and well kept (mostly) and rain doesn't drown out the trail either. I recommend getting a map from Fun Wheels in Oxford before you go. (Fun Wheels is across from the mall right by a bakery)

The best parts of Iron Legs are the various unique trail scenery, like the nose of a wrecked plane that you have to ride through called Bloody Nose, and a wrecked helicopter that can be seen from atop a beautiful overlook about halfway thru the trail. Also, the rock garden and the voo-doo village are worth slowing down to enjoy. I'd say this track is the best singletrack in north Alabam. Period.

Similar Trail: For a zooming fast double-track that is over 20 miles and is more like a self-propelled roller-coaster ride than a MTB trail, go to the Kentuck ORV trail, (pronounced CANE-TUCK) Superfast, smooth trail systems with killer air and some killer climbs, $3

Review: The most challenging singletrack in Alabama. If you want to ride a "real" trail, this is it. Usually you won't see any other riders just wildlife. I describe it as interval climbs and descents. If you're looking for long climbs & descents this is not for you. If you looking for short but challengin uphills and downhills this is the ticket! You can also link into other singletrack and endless amounts of fire access roads.
