This is the direction I started to ride - The guide books describe the trail the other direction. From County 129, climb up the gravel/dirt road. There are 2 gates arcoss the road (re-chain the gates). Continue climbing up the road - several switchbacks. This was as far as I made it. The books say the a moderate ride. But a litttle too much for me as a "flatlander".

Review: Hot Springs singletrack is part of a network of trails above the Elk River about six miles north of Steamboat Springs. It can be ridden in either direction, riding up the singletrack is a bit more technical, but overall it is rated as "advanced".

Review: This is one of the classic Steamboat rides and an early season local's favorite. Mostly because the snow melts off this trail first in the spring. Dont go the way naugabike says, consult the Steamboat "Blue" book for the proper directions. The road to the trail can be a grunt, but keep grinding and the singletrack reward is worth it. If you're feeling ambitious, add Mad Creek or Red Dirt trails. This is a longish ride, but you'll enjoy it.
