Description
Immediately out of both parking areas, trails are a wide, flat, gentle mix of dirt and gravel. Within a couple-three minutes, they lead to rocky, rooty, up-and-down singletrack loops that cross streams and marshy areas via boardwalk, then loop through what must be one of the nation's most-beautiful urban forests. Experienced Hartley riders will know that within those loops are sections that are accessible to beginner mountain-bikers. Most Hartley riding is intermediate to expert. Many dog walkers, runners, and their dogs also use the trails, which are multi-directional, so stay alert for traffic.

Review: Visited while in Duluth and found conflicting information about this trail. What I rode was a poorly marked system of two way trails that had lots of turnoff options. Its really easy to get lost or end up in a section beyond your abilities. This is hilly so if you don't want to do near continuous climbing, stay away or expect to be challenged. Many sections are also very challenging technically and can't be ridden around by beginners. So you could descend down an incline into a massive rock garden near a cliff. Would recommend beginners only go with someone who knows it well and can help them navigate it safely. I wouldn't describe it as flowy but it is technical due to the rock gardens and all the climbing. If you are looking for a cardio and technical challenge, have at it.

Review: Nice trails. The bridges are. Great. There was guy working on what looked like new trails in the inner loop. I parked at the end of Hartley rd. some good flowing sections. No good obstacles. Nice warm up for bigger and better trails

Review: The trails are mostly single track, some trail sections have lots of tree roots this is defiantly a cross country trail I'm giving it a lower rating because it lacks fast flowy sections. Stay away from these trails after it rains because they will be MUDDY.
