DescriptionDead Horse Point State Park is home to the Intrepid Trail system, named for the Intrepid Potash Co. whose generous donation made the trail possible.
The 9-mile Big Chief loop starts and ends at the park visitor section, and has cut-offs to make two shorter loops: the 4.2 mile Great Pyramid and 1.1 mile Intrepid loop.
The trail is beginner to intermediate in difficulty, is well marked and has negligible elevation gain.
The scenic overlooks are near by and accessible, but there is no exposure on the trail itself.
This trail system is well suited for all abilities and is family friendly.
