Description
Dead Horse Point State Park is home to the Intrepid Trail system, named for the Intrepid Potash Co. whose generous donation made the trail possible.

The 9-mile Big Chief loop starts and ends at the park visitor section, and has cut-offs to make two shorter loops: the 4.2 mile Great Pyramid and 1.1 mile Intrepid loop.

The trail is beginner to intermediate in difficulty, is well marked and has negligible elevation gain.

The scenic overlooks are near by and accessible, but there is no exposure on the trail itself.

This trail system is well suited for all abilities and is family friendly.

Review: Deadhorse is an easy trail with great views. I took the inlaws on this trail and they've never ridden before. Not alot of climbing or downhill, but a good scenic trek. Mostly beginners for this trail.

Review: This trail is an astonishing achievement--a novice-friendly trail that should be entertaining to just about everyone. While it is beginner-frienly, there will be one mandatory dismount and a couple other probables for a new rider, but these are the type to challenge and encourage rather than abuse and discourage. The scenery is also most impressive, even by Moab standards. I expected good from the other reviews; what I got far exceeded that!

Review: This trail was perfect for my first Moab ride. A great introduction to slickrock before tackling the crazy stuff. Easy, but not boring by any means, and the viewpoints are just spectacular. The entire loop is 9 miles, so either lap it twice, or use it as a warm-up before going on to something else.

Review: Supergreat beginner area in Moab. Take a break from the rocks and deadly drop offs and go here. Nice visitors center with food and drink. Bathrooms and good views. Trails are well marked, as there are only 3 there. Total trail lenght about 9 miles. Do 2 laps. Open and exposed riding.

Review: Yep, what Maddslacker said. This is actually a great trail, the 3 different length options make it do-able for just about any riding ability. This would be a good choice for some one who is completely new to MTB, someone who is completely new to Moab or both. A little sand, a little slickrock and lots of scenery its the perfect Moab sampler to see if they want to get into it more. Being several hundred feet above most of the other trails in the area the temps here are always a few degrees cooler than elsewhere. Plus the added altitude means more trees and shade for the brutally hot days of summer.

Review: A good family ride. If you ride early enough you can let it out while no one is there. Very scenic.

Review: This trail is beginner mountain biking, but is not a flat bike path. There a re few obstacles and sections of slickrock to keep the interest of more seasoned riders, but a new rider can clean most if not all of it. The scenery is amazing!
