Description: This network has it all. I'm not sure how many miles, but anyone will enjoy these trails from the beg. rider to the expert. Trails are Benton Falls Trail, Rimrock Trail, Slickrock Trail, Clear Creek Trail, Red Leaf Trail, Azalea Trail, Arbutus Trail and the Clemmer Trail. Only experts should ride the Clear Creek Trail. Some spots are very dangerous. The Clemmer is a difficult 4 mile up hill climb, but worth it when you get to the top. I like to ride up Clemmer to the campground and then Azalea to Clear Creek to Rimrock and down Clemmer. Or Clemmer to the campground and then Slickrock and down Clemmer. Whatever route you take get off your bike and hike down to Benton Falls. It is worth the time. You can also ride some old roads around the mountain. This area has everything!

Amazing downhill on clemmer! My friend didnt use his brakes wisely on the gravel and payed for it. I got up to 30mph easily on here but maintaing control is crucial. One wrong move and you could hit very hard.

Great long climb, great long downhill. The side trails are a blast too.

This is an incredible set of trails in the middle of a great park with clean, spacious, well organized camp sites, a great lake for swimming and clean bathhouses with hot showers. The trails range from easy to all you can handle. The most technical and fastest trail is clear creek. It is a long trail with some very technical, rocky areas and several creek crossings. Clemmer trail takes you all the way to the bottom of the hill with a long climb back up. Azalea is a great pedaling trail with fast turns, good air and enough rocks to keep you alert. Hancock is a fun, somewhat technical trail. This system has something for everyone and offers several hours of riding just to cover all of the trails one time. It is fairly high at 2000 ft offering respite from the heat in the middle of the summer and near constant shade on the trails.

Miles and miles of mountain singletrack with plenty of technical challenge in places! This system was kind of overgrown when I rode it and some of the trails didn't flow very well. Check out the detailed ride report that I posted to the Singletracks.com blog for more info: http://www.singletracks.com/blog/mtb-trails/mountain-biking-in-the-mountains-of-tennessee-chilhowee-trail-system/

Been riding these trails for years. Great trail network of rough and challenging trails. Great for the experienced rider and beginners alike. I like the ruggedness of the area and being that its not a planned mechanized built trail system you get that in tune with nature feeling. My preffered route is to start at the Clemmer trail head at the bottom and climb up to the small wooden bridge. Then I take a left and climb up to the fire road. Ride the fire road down and down Naked widow back to clemmer then ride Clemmer up to the lake. Ride over to the azelea trail and ride that back to Clemmer and blister back down to the bottom.

slickrock is one of my favorite trails in the area. I love rocky technical stuff. Wouldn't recommend it for beginners, take them to Brush Creek a few miles east past the gorge.

Since there are a lot of trails here, there are so many options of combining loops. Unfortunately when we went, we tried to maximize mileage and take the outermost trails--Clemmer to Slick Rock to the campground then down Clear Creek--and it was a rough ride, literally. The 2-3 mile doubletrack climb up Clemmer covered about 800 vertical feet, a good aerobic challenge. Slick Rock was singletrack but rooty. Some of the intermediate trails were rocky but rideable and got old quick. I never got a good flow going on these trails and the ride down Clear Creek was unrewarding with a lot of gnarly rocky sections (see the pics). Overall the trail combinations we chose were too slow and I'll be riding the Tanasi trails the next time we're in Ocoee.

I would not suggest this for beginners, but, if you start at the parking lot off HWY 30 and 64, ride up to the Chilhowee campground, you will be in for the downhill of your life! Long, mixture of terrain, bumpy, creeks, gravel, jumps, and you can fly down a lot of it at 25 to 30 mph....Tough uphill, but it is my favorite downhill ride. The other trails up here are good too.

The first 2 miles up Clemmer trail kicked my butt. a bit too much for a novice like me but i made it up to the camping area. THe ride back down was awesome. fast but bumpy. My hard tail made it rough but fun.

This is a great set of trails. Lots of flowy singletrack. Nothing technical, but pretty high on the fun factor. The one major hill is absolutely fantastic going down. Access from the campground is perfect. The trail varies in different sections from double to singletrack, from tight and turny to fast and flowy. There are some small jumps or hops going down all downhills. Nice job of grooming by the local biking group. When I went here, I played for 3 days on the same set of trails and never got bored.

A relatively easy to moderate 2-mile climb to the top (or you can drive to the top, go down, but you still have to get back up) to a beautiful lake and campground. Lots of single track with well maintained trails, absolutely beautiful scenery and a wide variety of vegetation and even a few waterfalls. The trails are very well marked and ez to navigate. We rode there 11/30/05 for almost 3 hours (about 15 miles) and never saw another sole. The only thing we were worried about was Black bearsÖ DONíT FEED THE BEARS!!!! Highly recommend this entire system.

great trail system. map comes in handy. We got the maps and guidance from Zach at Scott's Bicycle Center in Cleveland. Like everywhere in Smokies lots of climbing and nice long downhills. Clemmer section is the way up and down , its double track and allows for some really fast downhill ride. check out actual benton falls must be nice cool off area in summertime. well maintained camp and they are building swim lake area.

Great trail with rolling singletrack and a few technical sections This is a great ride. Fun single track through the trees. Nothing to technical. Nice climbs It has to be one longest downhill I have ever ridden, at least a 4 mile downhill from the top.

Great trail system. Camping is available and really needed to take full advantage of the full trail system. Make a weekend out of it and explore all the different types of trails. Good if you have a mixed group of beginners or kids and advanced riders. Send the beginers on the 7 mile drive to pick you up at the bottom of clemmer ;) small lake, beach, and bath houses at the top in the camp area.

Love these trails. Buddy of mine busted going back up clemmer to the campground so Being the wonderful guy I am I sent him down to the P-lot at the base and climbed back to the campground alone. Drove back down the Mtn and picked him up... Don't miss tha falls... worth the hike even in slick bike shoes
