Mountain Biking Chapel Trail

***   Add a review
#98 of 295 mountain bike trails in Pennsylvania
#3,614 in the world

This trail winds along a precipice above the Schuylkill river through woods and open fields. It provides some challenge to experienced riders, but smooths out in the middle to accomodate beginners. Intermediate riders should start at Washington's headquarters and proceed through rocks, roots, and climbs before the trail provides some welcome relief along the train tracks. Beginners can park at the Varnum picnic area and head downhill to the middle of the trail. The trail ends at the east side of the park near the visitors center. You can slog back through the trail, or you can jump on the paved JPM trail and take it easy onyour way back to the car.
