Description: With nearly 17 miles of trails, Castlewood offers some of the best variety of
riding in the area. From the flat and curvy along the Meramec river, to the
numerous climbs and downhills on the bluffs, there's something here for
everyone.

The trails can be simplified roughly into two categories: the easier, flat trails
along the river bottom such as the River Scene, and Stinging Nettle; and
the more advanced, technical ones in the higher areas including Cedar Bluff,
Lone Wolf, the Rollercoaster and Grotpeter. A major update to the park
occurred in 2007 and there are now signs for nearly every trail. There are
several shorter trails- Mountain Ridge Connector, Ranger Station, and
Justin's, which link parts of the main trails. If you're unfamiliar with the park,
a map will be very helpful. (posted from GORC). Although it is now private
property, you can connect to Sherman Beach park trials from here. This is a
great ride to a miniture train track area, with a desert, and Zombie
rd(featured on top 10 haunted places in america on travel channel) which
has been recently repaved and is now a blast to bomb down. There are
even a few awesome rope swings if you want to stop for a swim but they
are a little difficult to find

TRAIL REVIEWS   review this trail

VERY busy trail system I rode this week while visiting family - but good variety for rides. Everything from extremely fast and sandy two track along the river bottoms to great climbs and quick rocky downhills. If you can avoid the crowds you can have a great time.
