Description: This is a great trail; in fact, all the ones in this park are awesome. Campbell's Pond, though, is a little more technical with more climbing. It's full of roots and rocks, too. For an out and back, it is great. Most are boring on the way back, but not this one. They actually include some route diversions to make it interesting. It is really well marked, too. Although it's not as fast as K-3, you can still get up some speed. You'll need it when you hit the Kamikaze, a big dip on the way. You'll want all you can get on the Devil's Backbone...not as dangerous as it sounds, but can be great fun if you rail into it.

TRAIL REVIEWS   review this trail

Campbell's Pond is a must ride whenever visiting Manchester State Forest! The Sumter Chain Gang has recently developed a connector trail that will totally bypass the road section that other posters have previously commented on. The trail is currently in great shape & offers a few nice short climbs to get the ticker pumping! By far my favorite sections of the trail are the deep gulleys where you can rail from side to side! Check it out!

Trail has been cleaned and trimmed. Dont forget to ride the new connector section out and back. Im sure you will get a nice aerobic workout from just that section the jump ever and hit k3 for a fun fast ride.

If you start this trail at the K3 trail head you'll be really excited for the first 10 minutes but the trail for the next 2 miles in on paved road and dirt road. But, once you head back into the woods you'll be pretty excited! I'm guessing the trail is rarely ridden because the foliage is so overgrown. But, it is a great complement to K3 and The Red Loop. I'll ride it again but not before getting back onto K3. I'll probably skip to the Poinsett parking area next time to skip out on all of the road riding.

This trail is a LOT of fun, and is actually closer to 10 miles with the out & back, not 4 as indicated here. It doesn't get as much traffic as K3 or Red Loop, also in Manchester, from what I can tell. It has a few good climbs (a little technical but not too tough), and several drop-ins that are great fun if you take them fast. The trail was a little overgrown and not as well marked as the others in Manchester. Now that I've ridden the trail it will be easy to follow, but for the first time, grab a trail map or study it before you head out.

I couldn't find the trail when i rode it the first time. I wound up on the walking trail, which is a pretty sweet track to ride. I thought it was for bikes. Has some crazy downhill stuff, and some big climbs. The real trail is fun. It's more technical than K3, and more climbs. I've wiped out a few times there. Theres' a little bit of sand to watch out for, some roots, narrow track, and sharp turns. It's fun and challenging though.

Great trail to complement K3. The 2.5 mile ride to/from the main trailhead is boring, but once you get on this trail it's great! Good climbs, some tight singletrack spots, and plenty of technical fun. Like the other trails here, its very well marked, and has some fun obstacles. Combine with the other trails for a nice long ride.
