Description
There are two trails: Torn Shirt and Murray Lake. Murray Lake is the easier of the two and is total of 9.2 miles in length. There are tight singletracks as well as fast sections. I would recommend for the beginner to intermediate riders. You can even cut the loop by 2 miles by forgoing the Lost Loop at the 2.7 mile marker. Torn Shirt is about 6 miles in length and is little bit more technical. Both loops start and return at the same parking area.

Review: Great trail! Torn shirt is pretty challenging, with lots of steep, rooty climbs. I had to get off my bike and walk a few of them. The other parts of the trail (green, purple, and yellow loop) are a little easier (but still intermediate) with quick descents, fun climbs and a few root drops. There aren't really any stunts, just a few log piles and one skinny. Overall, the trails were well marked and I never got lost. I had a great time here. I'd recommend hitting torn shirt first while you're fresh then doing the other loops, as they all chain off one another and are easy to put together. Also, as an FYI you need a michigan park pass to get in, I had to buy one for $11. They are good at all the state parks, so it isn't a bad investment.

Review: Brighton Rec trails have had some big changes this past year, The Murray Lake trail has seen the most, with a new bridge to get to, what was called the "Lost Loop" section, because new riders would often get lost trying to find it, no more riding on Bauer road to find it. Also they have changed the trail at some of the steeper more rutted and eroded uphill sections. This trail drains really well after rains, and still has enough of every type of terrain to put a smile on your face.

Review: Murray Lake: Fun ride, a little bit of everything but nothing to difficult. Trail is about 9 miles, closer to 10 if you ride around like I did wondering where the trail went. Trail tosses you out on a road a few times and I was like, ok,? Now what?! Signage was great for mile markers (7.0, 7.5, 7.6). Be really nice when the trail hits a road to have a sign telling you where to continue. Grab a trail map on your way out. Great ride, not a beginner course, but perfect place to advance out of that stage.

Review: Torn Shirt: The park is beautiful, trail is narrow winding, very treed. Trail was fun, but a lot if work, lots of small climbs and descents thru roots, rocks, gravel. A few of the downhills were really worn. Quite a bit of loose gravel and in many spots trenches just begging for your tire. Don't recommend this ride alone, if you spill, it's gonna hurt. Fun, technical, to much work for me, I'm kind if lazy that way.

Review: Rode this at the recommendation of some bikers from the area that I met this summer. I only was able to ride the Murray Lake part of the trail. Murray Lake has some very nice flow. For every climb you get rewarded with some sweet downhill riding. Trail is well marked.

Review: Torn shirt was a really trail and I'd agree with some of the comments below that it is similar to Highland A or B loop. LOTS of hills! My only complaint was that there was sand at the bottom of every downhill so it was difficult to get any type of speed. Deer flys are horrible so don't forget to bring the mosquito spray.

Review: Murry lake trail was a blast! A lillte of everything out there. A lil 2 much sand in parts n a few sections with lots of roots but its a good challange. Murry lake is just over 9 miles you have to do the torn shirt trail aswell to get the full 15 miles. Its nicer trail then Island Lake & milford that r nearby.

Review: Fun trails all around with Torn shirt being the harder of the 2. Torn short gets compared to Highland alot but Highland is way harder and longer. Once the MMBA get their mitts in the Torn shirt it will be dumbed down for sure. Murray lake is fast and flowing with some technical areas.

Review: Both of these trails are loads of fun. However, torn shirt has several climbs and is much more technical. Both have plenty of roots with torn shirt having some rocks as well. Murray lake is a good intermediate trail that flows nice

Review: Great trail overall! Murray lake trail has many little ups and downs with turns all about. It can be slow for first timers, but as you get to know the trail it can be extremely fast. Torn Shirt is much slower and technical. The middle section has a few steep hills which can be draining, but a great work-out!
