Description: go through the gate, after the gate the fireroad will split go to the right (i believe this is the hanna grove or borges ranch trail) stay on this for a while you'll have a very easy uphill then a mellow downhill, this fire trail stays pretty smooth and rock free. Once you ride over a large sandstone on the fire road the singletrack opening will be on your left hand side about 20 feet before the first bench on your left(you pass another bench but that one is on the right hand side of the trail). the singletrack comes out on the fireroad again but go to the left up the hill about 50yrds and you'll see the trail again going down the hill on your left hand side, that section is short then pops back onto the fireroad, then back to singletrack right away. the singletrack will split down at the bottom near the creek, make a right down the trail following the creek til you get to the road, make a right and follow the signs to get back to the trailhead and take the hanna grove trail back to the start of the single track or back to the parking lot.

TRAIL REVIEWS   review this trail

There is plenty of singletrack in this area we consider just the north end of Shell Ridge, but the Borges loop is really just an entry point to other connected trail networks of better quality. It's a combo of sandstone and adobe, so it's hit or miss when it has been raining. There is the typical conflicts between the variety of trail users and their interests. Be courteous and it will go a long way.

Similar Trail: Shell Ridge network, Las Trampas, Pleasanton Ridge, Mitchell Canyon and even Briones.

The ranger told us all single track is closed to bikes. You will be ticketed if he catches you. So all there is is steep up and down fire road, not my idea of fun.
