Description
Aliso Canyon is network of grueling climbs followed by intense, white knuckle

downhill sections, with some flatter sections of singletrack peppered in here and

there. Most of the DH sections are doubletrack or fire rode width and get pretty gnarly with some cruel ledges and seriously rigid terrain, especially the "Car

Wreck" section. After each of the DH runs, you usually have a short fire road

connector trail to, you guessed it, a couple miles of steep climbing, so bring an

extra lung in your camelbak. The singletrack deep in the canyon is nice and

plush but not very technical.

Review: AW has something for everyone, and it seems everyone is on these trails on the weekend. Rock-it, with it's stepped rock garden is a must.

Review: Huge variety of trails to choose from: from mellow fire roads to lung busting climbs to double black diamond descents. Most of the area is pretty exposed but there are a few trails through the trees toward the bottom of the canyon. Great proximity to the beach which means incredible views!

Review: Pretty cool trail system near Laguna Beach. It's on a very exposed set of hills, so it's best to ride when the temperatures are cool. Combination of doubletrack and singletrack, much like many of the other trails in So Cal.

Review: Just got done riding Car Wreck. What an awesome trail, but it is NOT for beginners. If you have any doubt of your skills stay off this trail. From the get go, you depart a decent 3 foot drop that you've gotta hit with some speed, but not too much or youll overshoot the singletrack landing. if you continue riding, you'll cruise down a bit of singletrack to the first rock garden. This is what separates the men from the boys. Navigate your way through the next few hundred feet of rocks, and you get greeted with yet another rock garden. This one however, separates the men from the mentally insane. The next few hundred feet will expose you and your 5 senses to all this trail has to offer. You will smell your brakes burning as you attempt to remain in control. Your fingers will have the engravings of your brake levers imprinted in them for days. You will hear your rear tire hopping along and your bike groaning, begging for forgiveness. You won't see the end, because you can't look more than 5 feet in front of you. You will taste the sweat dripping down your face, knowing that one wrong move and that sweat will taste like blood for the rest of the day. When you finally reach the end of the rock garden and see the car wreck (yeah, hence the name) you descend past a low hanging tree limb (DUCK,) through a small creek, and you are home free. The trail will dump you out with mathis into the main trail. Overall, this trail rocks, however I ran into a guy on the way out who broke a few ribs on this trail a couple weeks ago.... use caution.

Similar Trail: I can't really compare it to anything locally.

Review: Aliso creek has some great single track trails. Some are quite the challenge. Check out Telonics and Rock-it for some great downhill fun.

Review: Fast and Furious going down, granny gear coming up. Aliso is packed full of skull busting, sketchy DH but you gotta pay for each DH with some nasty climbing. Bring you full face and knee pads!

Review: Lots of different terrain. You have the Aliso/Wood Canyon out and back.
There is Wood Canyon/Mathis/Cholla.
Lots of different options.
Most popular is Wood Canyon/Cholla/Rockit/Coyote loop.

Review: There are many places to explore in this park. Mathis if you want fast downhill or a long burn uphill. Rock-It is a great singletrack/technical but I couldn't imagine going up it. The meadows are a little more relaxing but still give you a workout.

Review: I recomend that you try and find a good guide book for this area. The book will give you the location of many other trails and side trails that come off of the main trail. These range from easy to advcanced, and are loads of fun.

Review: Fireroad that has many connectors to other trails. Most trails end at some small business parking lots. Go back the way you came in, this will take you to your car. Trail is lots of fun, and there are lots of hiden trails.
