Cons: Locks are extra You do have to assemble it
Recommendation: I didn't need the extras of the NV, and I like the way the core has the up-curve of the hitch tongue. The other Kuat racks may all be like this now, but when looked it did not seem this way. I was torn between this and the Sherpa. I saved a few bucks, but put it back into the lock set... Was that dumb? I don't know. I liked the added actual support the Core provided with the longer platform. I have a driveway that has a mean slope hear the curb, and other racks bottomed out ( this is on a 2011 Outback). The Kuat Core does not! Big plus for me. Bikes go on and off in seconds, the rack folds nicely, and the added lock kits will suffice for 'basic' security. I was hesitant to spend ~400 for this, but I am happy I did. I guess that says it all.
