Description
The new PCS-9 offers Park Tool quality in an entry level repair stand for the home mechanic. Check all these features:

* Three-point leg system creates stable base

* Height adjusts from 39"to 57"(99cm to 145cm)

* Screw type clamp adjusts to fit tubes of various shapes from 7/8" to 3" (24mm to 76mm)

* Screw type clamp adjusts to fit tubes from 7/8" to 3" (24mm to 76mm)

* Clamp rotates 360 degrees for easy access to any part of bike. Will also clamp on aero shaped seat posts.

* Legs fold upward for easy storage. Loosen the lower bolt on the primary tube, and lift legs upward

The PCS-9 works well for many recumbents and bikes with odd shaped tubing.

Pros: - Park Tool Quality
- strong
- balanced
- easy to disassemble
- easy to move
- its very lightweight for what it is

Cons: - Hard to store even disassembled
- top tube clamp as you need to crank the handle to close the clamp

Recommendation: I like this stand a lot. As you can see from the many bikes in my profile and parts scattered around the back grounds of my pictures I like to tinker with bikes, so this stand gets used a lot. I use it when I rattle can bikes as well.

Two complaints about the stand worth mentioning is arm assembly and the crank clamp:
- The arm assembly is a plastic cone that slides into a metal cone and it pivots inside this cone. When you tilt the bike in the rack with the front tire going up it tightens sweat style connection and then makes it very hard to move again later as it seems to tighten up and cease together. I have had this effect with and without lube.
- The screw clamp is just inconvenient and I do want to get a stand that has a lever tightening clamp instead.

Model/Year: 2012

Pros: Cost, build quality,functionality

Cons: None

Recommendation: I held off buying this cause there is always something shinier or more fun but I should have gotten it before I even bought the bike. If you do ANYTHING besides add air to your tires this stand makes it easier and more fun. Now I do all my own maintenance from cleaning the drivetrain to adjusting deraillurs. Buy this tool.

Pros: Reliable workstand.

Cons: Plastic couplers can crack in cold weather.

Recommendation: Good home mechanic workstand. Doesn't have the bells and whistles of higher end stands, but then again your not paying for them.
