Cons: Not so great at getting inside near the rollers. Gums up fast unless you use some sort of degreaser on it every now and then.
Recommendation: This tool provides a very nice costmetic cleaning for the outer links of your chain. The problem is that it doesn't really do a great job getting down into the rollers and getting that gunk out. The rollers are the main part that holds grime and grease so the chain is still dirty after cleaning with the scrubber. The brushes get gunked up kinda fast too. I find it easier to throw some degreaser in the unit and run the chain through that a couple of times. Then, wash that stuff out and refill the unit with soapy water and run the chain through one last time. Relube the rollers and wipe clean with a towel and the chain is clean enough and ready to roll.
Pros: -Easy to use
-Makes the chain like new
-Easy to clean
Cons: -None
Recommendation: I use dish soap with water mixed 70/30 (lube chain immediately following the cleaning) and it makes my chains looks new. Highly recommend this to anybody not looking to scrub a chain by hand ever again.
Cons: Does a poor job cleaning anything other than the outside of the links; rollers and inner links don't get touched. Gunks up pretty bad after about 5 uses. A cheaper and much better cleaning solution is just to use two empty jars; one filled with mineral spirits and one filled with hot soapy water.
Recommendation: Don't waste your $15. Fill a jar with mineral spirits, drop your chain in and shake. Then drop the chain into another jar with hot soapy water and shake. Voila! Clean chain. Pour off the clean mineral spirits after the gunk sinks to the bottom in a day and reuse next time. This thing does little more than hit the outside of the chain and does VERY little for the rollers and links that need to be cleared of grit and dirt to make your chain run smoothly.
Pros: Great job cleaning the chain, easy to use, fast.
Cons: None
Recommendation: All you need to do is attach to the chain, add the degreaser, spin the chain a few times around and your done. Highly recommended for anybody.
Recommendation: It works good. I am new to bike riding and I was able figure out how to use it. It takes some practice when using it for the first time. It makes cleaning the chain much easier. I recommend this product to anyone.
Cons: Not so great at getting inside near the rollers. Gums up fast unless you use some sort of degreaser on it every now and then.
