Pros: cheap durable

Cons: not light but good price makes up for that
some rusting
sand getting in causing a clicking noise occasionally.

Recommendation: I would recomend these pedals expecially for a beginner there is some clicking noises that are solved temporarly by a good cleaning and greasing after about 5 months. Adjustability is nice as springs wear after time.

Pros: Easy install, but same for any pedal. Easy to clip in. Has small platform for just moving the bike without correct shoes.

Cons: A little rust after a few years of use.

Recommendation: First set of clipless pedals. Easy to adjust to low tension and dial in as improve/become more comfortable with them.

Pros: Easy to install, easy to adjust, take a beating.

Cons: Nothing yet. Rock solid.

Recommendation: Bought them for $35 online. Can't beat them for the price. Work in the sand, mud, and anything else you can think of.

Pros: inexpensive ,simple adjustment for tension ,basic, easy to clean , light enough for me.

Cons: none

Recommendation: I bought these as my first pedals for my Ex8 with the idea I would soon upgrade to a "better" set . I'm not going to fix something that isn't broken . These are my first clipless pedals and I have no reason not to keep them .

Pros: Inexpensive, durable, easy adjustment, longevity, stays clipped in well but releases easily when you need to.

Cons: If you care about a few grams, then weight but those little savings really only help street bikes.

Recommendation: Great pedals for beginners-advanced riders!

Pros: cheap yet durable and easy to set up and adjust

Cons: weight

Recommendation: I am an avid rider and use these. have them on both my Klien and my Diamondback. They pair on the Klien have got me through 6 years of riding and dtill continue to perform well. They are a little heavier than the higher ended models, but i cant tell.

Pros: Price, setup, longevity, they stay clipped when you want and release easliy when you need them to.

Cons: Obviously not as high end as the XTs or XTRs, but they work.

Recommendation: These are the pedal for the budget minded rider that runs clipless. These are Shimano's workhorse pedals. They does as their intended, not fancy or flashy, but get the job done.

Pros: adjustable, cheap, work great, great beginner pedals

Cons: nothing, really (if you need lighter pedals than these you are probably going to get something more expensive anyway)

Recommendation: these are my first (and only) clipless pedals. the adjustable release is awesome - especially if you are just learning to ride clipless pedals. i also bought the removable plastic spd platform things in case i want to ride my bike with normal shoes (not on the trails - the plastic bends too much - but just to get around)

Pros: Inexpensive, durable, easy to use. Great for beginners and more experienced riders.

Cons: None

Recommendation: For the money I think these are the best pedals on the market. I agree with others that they are great because you can beat them up and not worry about having spent a lot of money on them. Very easy to adjust and clip into them.

Pros: Great durability, easily adjustable. Great starter clipless pedals

Cons: I'm loving them, but I guess they are a bit on the heavier side

Recommendation: Great first pedals. Adjust to your comfort level for clipping in and out. Easy to jump right into, takes a beating and keeps on going.

Pros: Sturdy. Cheap. Somewhat adjustable. Rebuildable. Very positive clip-in "feel".

Cons: Heavy. Easily jammed in mud. Clip in/out not as smooth as egg beaters.

Recommendation: Great pedal for value seekers or people looking to get into clipless pedals for the first time. Personal preference is the Egg Beater SL for weight and the engagement/disengagement. Much more sturdy against rock strikes than the Egg Beaters.

Pros: Great pedal for first time clipless users

Cons: Weight....Crankbrothers do it with less weight

Recommendation: A good pedal for those who want clipless...Shimano's work horse pedal that can take a beating.

Pros: These pedels are like butter. Great Shimano product and a price you can't beat.

Cons: None.

Recommendation: Unless you are a complete racer, I would recommend these to anyone who wants a tough pedel that will always work.

Pros: As most stated, cheap, easy to use, great for beginners.

Cons: None

Recommendation: I did a lot of reading before getting my first set of clipless, and these by far got the best reviews on most mtb sites.

Pros: Shimano quality

Cons: Could be a little better in a mud situation, although light years ahead of the old 747`s I started out with.

Recommendation: This pedal is a workhorse, you don`t get the "bling" factor with them, but who cares.

Pros: Great price; easy to clip/un-clip; easy to tight/untight

Cons: a little bit on the heavy side

Recommendation: first time going clipless. It should be against the law to ride a MTB without clipping. Loved the experience.

Pros: Cheap, easy adjustment, tension control, tough

Cons: None

Recommendation: These were the first set of clipless pedals I'd bought and I love them. They are easy to get in and out of and they stay clean very well. Great for first time clipless users. One of the best upgrades to my bike so far! I recommend them to anyone who's looking to go clipless.

Pros: Price, ease of use, works as designed, reliable, bullet-proof

Cons: They look low-end

Recommendation: The were the second set of SPD pedals I bought, and now they are on their 3rd bike. They are durable, reliable, and adjustable. They shed mud well and are easy to clean. I've never had a clip-in or -out problem with these pedals. The perfect pedal for beginners or experienced riders on a budget. The SPD design is still one of the best and simplest to use.

Pros: It's a no-frills pedal that performs as advertised. The adjustments were easy to make for the right hold. The price was right too.

Cons: I wasn't able to comfortably ride to the local trail without clipping in.

Recommendation: THis is a great pedal if you want to give a clipless pedal a try. They are durable and easily adjustable. They will not break the bank for the first set either. I know it's a biking feaux pas to not like clipless pedals, but I don't.

Recommendation: good basic no frills pedals. slim enough design to be used on a road bike. robust entry level pedal, can bang it up on the trails without worrying about how much you spent on them.
