Description
The Pro 1400 represents the pinnacle of bike lighting technology. Pumping out 1400 lumens, motorists will be left wondering if you are a car, motorcycle or a low flying UFO. Warning; the last person that shined a 1400 into the sky blinded the space shuttle. What makes the Pro 1400 unique lies in its two independently housed LEDs and reflectors, one reflector acts as a ?spot? and the other a ?flood?, this gives the user the ability to manage the type of beam pattern desired. To further beam management and flexibility, the Pro 1400 runs under our unique D.I.Y. Software, this software allows you to tailor fit the light to your ride. This feature is not found anywhere else.

Pros: Great light output and the software offers dozens of steady and flash light settings, more than I’ll probably ever need. On the steady light settings you can adjust lumens in increments of 50, from 0-700 for each bulb individually. On the flash settings you can use the pre-programmed flashes or set up your own personalized flash settings. Don’t need both lights? No problem. You can run with just one light or both. Because one bulb is a spot light and the other a floor light, running with both lights offers a wide beam pattern that also throws out light far ahead of the rider too. At 1400 lumens NiteRider advertises the battery life to be 2½ hours with a full charge. But I have found it to run right at 3 hours at full power. Before purchasing the light I contacted NiteRider to ask how many recharge cycles the battery had and was told that the 8 cell Li-Ion battery is rated at 800 recharge cycles. Recharge takes 4½ hours. The headlamp itself has an 8 step fuel gauge on top that offers a good indication of remaining battery life on the current charge. Another feature I like is the handlebar mount. The light comes with mounts for both handlebars and a helmet. My old NiteRider Minewt Dual x2 attached with rubber rings and often got out of adjustment going over rough terrain. But the 1400 Pro LED comes with a sturdy clamp-type handlebar mount and once tightened it doesn’t move. Overall a great light and I’m very happy with it.

Cons: The battery is a bit heavy. Also when going from steady light to flash mode and back, you're left in the dark for about 3 seconds.

Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this light.
