Recommendation: got this bike as my first real mountain bike in may 2011 and I love it. haven't had any issues with it, although mine came with a deuce fork not the headshock thats pictured.
Pros: Good cockpit feel.
Light weight.
Crisp shifting.
Plush fork.
Cons: Price.
Recommendation: Rode this bike when looking to upgrade my spesh hardrock. Would make a great upgrade from entry level bike and felt very accomplished and comfortable.
Pros: Nice build-up platform, good price and nice entry-level ride.
Cons: Head shock nightmare.
Recommendation: This was the first brand new ride I have bought in 10+ years, a little present for myself after my last machine got stolen. The headshock was garbage! Replaces at least once by Cannondale and in and out of the shop until I replaced the bike. Now it sits in my garage collecting dust. Other than that, when I was able to ride it, it had a very responsive frame. But very wide factory bars made it feel like driving a truck.
Pros: Smooth ride and good component set for the price point
Cons: The Squeaking brakes were a huge problem when I first purchased the 2008 F4. Come to find out it was a problem with all 2008 Shimano Brakes for the F4. Warranty fixed it. Then the shock kept going flat on me. The bike shop wanted to send it back to Cannondale for repair but it would have taken 4 weeks to get back. I simply asked for an exchage to a new 2009 F4. The 2009's come with Avid Juicy brakes and the shock problems are supose to be fixed. We will see when I get it next week.
Recommendation: Do not buy the 2008 F4. Too many issues. I'll write another review when I get my 2009 F4.
Pros: great feel, fairly low weight,
Cons: none so far
