Pros: - very durable
- long cage so it can shift 3 gears in one hit
- accurate quick shifting
- needs very little adjustment and maintanance

Cons: Havent found any as of yet

Recommendation: I have had this derailuer on my Giant Anthem for 4 years now and it still performes beautifully and perfect. It shifts on a dime with just a small click on the shifters. I love this derailuer.

Pros: Rapid shifting. Consistent

Cons: none

Recommendation: Shifting is smooth, quick and always on.
I upgraded from a Shimano LT to XT and the change was more than I expected, probably the best upgrade I've made.

Pros: Sleek profile. Great shifting. Good looking and sturdy. Shifts MUCH better than the earlier models and the reduced profile actually does help avoid "trail trash".

Cons: Really only have two small issues with this derailleur.
1. The bolts holding the jockey wheels are made of soft metal that is easily stripped out. Be careful when servicing.
2. Wish the unit came with the usual cable tension devise to help pull cable slack at the unit. Instead you have to use the ones on your shifters.

Recommendation: A sturdy and smooth derailleur that will have you forgetting about maintenance and enjoying the ride.

Pros: Definately great shifting, and as element stated...A much needed improvement over the other two models that shimano offer. The 770 / 771.

Cons: Not really at this point

Pros: A much needed improvement over the other two models that shimano offer. The 770 / 771

Cons: Still a bit light on the shifting

Recommendation: A much needed improvement over previous models of the XT line. I would say to shimano to dump the other models from the line and stick with this.
