Event description
Navarino Nature Center will be hosting a "Wildlife and Wheels Bike Ride" on Saturday, August 18, 2012. There will 5 bike tours held for participants to choose from including: a 4 mile "Youth Ride" near the nature center, a 14 mile "Family Fun Ride", a 12 mile "Mountain Bike-it" on designated trails on the wildlife area, a 22 mile "Tour de Nature" route around the east side of the wildlife area, and finally a "Nature x 3" a 50 mile course that loops the entire 15,000 acre Navarino Wildlife Area. There will be tent camping offered at the nature center for participants that would like to camp on the premises the night before the event. Bike tune-ups will be available the morning of the event by Joe Bikeler's of Shawano and Scheels of Appleton. Support wagon will be available on the route, and themed rest / aid stops stocked with refreshments.
Participants will receive a "goodie bag" with items that have been donated by local businesses that are supporting the event. There will be a bike raffle for 2 Fuji Bikes donated by Scheels of Appleton. Raffle tickets go on sale starting August 1st, contact NNC for more details. Sponsors of this event include: Scheels of Appleton, F.C. Dadson, Qualheims True Value of Shawano, Dr. William Swetlik, Culver's of Clintonville, Evergreen Care Center, Tri-County Appraisal, A&W Root Beer of Clintonville, Stadium Bike, Dairy Queen, Ocean Spray, B& J Graphics, Associated Bank, Kwik Trip, Doc's Harley Davidson, Joe Bikeler's of Shawano, the Lighthouse Bar & Grill, and SPOKES of Shawano.
